True Story
Literacy In Action
We just finished the third week of Reach for Reading Unit 5. We are exploring the big question, “When do harmless things become harmful?” We are continuing to work on text structure, plot and inferences. The Unit 5 test will be next Friday. In writing, we are working on understanding Literary Essays. This is a difficult task, but we are doing our best to understand the genre so we can craft our own amazing essays.
Math
Fourth grade:
- Continuing to work on finding equivalent fractions as well as adding fractions with like and unlike denominators.
- We will have our test for unit 6 on Tuesday.
- We are still working on our problem solving skills using the CUBES strategy weekly
Fifth grade:
- Fifth grade math took their test today over unit 7, which focuses on the Order of Operations, exponents, and negative numbers.
- They will be beginning unit 8 on Monday.
Remember too students also have log-ins taped in the front of their assignment notebooks for www.everydaymath.com where there are many valuable resources for support.
Science
We started our unit over Motion and Design this week! We discussed Newton's Three Laws of Motion and students were put into groups to create a vehicles that could go 100cm! They loved this challenge! Students will have the opportunity during this unit to create different vehicles as we discuss force, and distance.
