Early Release
Field Trip...
Northbrook Information!
Also... There is a flyer inviting parents to attend a rising 6th grade meeting Thursday, March 2nd. This is very important as Dr. Thompson, the principal of Northbrook, will be greeting parents and providing a glimpse of the middle school experience. Students are welcome to attend. We highly encourage all families to have a parent represented at this very important meeting!
Curriculum Update
Writing- The students will continue their work on their self-selected argument topic. Please ask your child what his/her topic is, and why it is important.
Social Studies- Our study of World War II will continue. Please be reminded that this is a sensitive topic and appropriate behavior is expected.
Math: This week's focus will be on finding additive volume. The students have learned to find volume by packing rectangular prisms with cubes, looking at models with cubes, and finding volume when only the length, width, and height were given. This week we will be finding volume when two rectangular prisms are put next to each other or are stacked one on top of the other without overlaps. No assessments will be given this week in math.
Science: We will be learning more about chemical changes and how they are different from physical changes. Ask your child about the experiment we did with Elephant Toothpaste on Thursday. It was a fun example of a chemical change.
Please mark your calendars...
