Thank you to everyone who took a deep dive into literacy at PKS Literacy Night! We were honored to have award-winning author, Jayne Rose-Vallee join us. She read the third book in her Dinosaurs in My Hair series, An Underwater Adventure. The setting of this fictional book takes place at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Following her reading, everyone broke into stations where they did art with Jayne, made edible fish tanks, created a bookmark, listened to Islamorada Library librarian read in the Media Center, and played sharks and minnows in the gym.

PKS students are taking a deep dive into literacy during Celebrate Literacy Week! On Tuesday, students took part in a school-wide reading challenge while they enjoyed Swedish Fish treats!

Environmental Studies students visited MOTE's coral nursery in Key Largo on Tuesday. They learned about the combined efforts by local scientists and divers to grow coral and plant them onto our Keys reefs. Coral fragmentation was demonstrated and one student got to try it out herself. The field trip was very educational and exciting!
