Haskell Summer Bridge Program in Literature
The dates for this year’s session are June 18 to July 8, 2017.
What is the Haskell Summer Bridge Program in Literature?
The Haskell Summer Bridge Program in Literature is a program aimed at giving additional support to incoming first-time college students by offering an intensive three-week program on the Haskell Indian Nations University campus. Students who are in need of strengthening their reading and writing skills will spend time learning how to read critically and how to participate in class discussion at the college level, from the same faculty who teach these subjects during the regular school year. Students will also get a crash course in the general knowledge and skills needed to succeed in college.
The Summer Bridge Program extends beyond the classroom, however. Students will also receive advising, academic coaching, and personal tutoring from Haskell faculty and staff. Finally, to orient students to the community, they will be living in for the next several years, there will be events and field trips introducing them to the opportunities that Lawrence and its surrounding areas offer.
