Thanksgiving Holidays

The Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) will observe Thanksgiving Holidays beginning Monday, November 25 through Friday, November 29. During that week, I will be available to answer emails Monday through Wednesday. I will not grade assignments submitted that week. Students are not required to complete assignments during the break but the GaVS server should be available if your child would like to access his/her course.

Final Course Projects

Your child will be required to complete a final course project to demonstrate his/her knowledge of what was learned in the course. The requirements for the business classes I am teaching are indicated below.

Financial Literacy A and AB
Students will be required to create a report and budget spreadsheet based on the scenario that they are starting their first job. The budget must include their source(s) of income, monthly expenses, savings, and investment options. The report must detail their source of income, housing option, job benefits, and retirement options. Specific details regarding the project are located in the course and provided in an announcement on the home page of the course.

Fundamentals of Web Design A
Students will be required to create a professional logo using the tools in the Expression Design program. Details on the tools required for the logo can be found on the Assignment page for the Final Course Unit.

Final Exam Information

The final exam will count for 20% of your child's final grade. The comprehensive objective exam will be available at 12:00 midnight on December 4 and will be available through 11:59 p.m. December 5. Your child will have one attempt to complete the exam and can do so on December 4 or 5. Noted below are details regarding your child's exam.

Financial Literacy A
The objective comprehensive exam will include 50 true/false, multiple choice questions. You child will have 75 minutes to attempt the exam. The exam will cover information from the Making Money Unit through the Savings and Investments unit.

Financial Literacy AB
The objective comprehensive exam will include 60 true/false, multiple choice questions. You child will have 90 minutes to attempt the exam. The exam will cover information from the Making Money Unit through the Payroll and Benefits unit.

Fundamentals of Web Design A
The objective comprehensive exam will include 50 true/false, multiple choice questions. You child will have 75 minutes to attempt the exam. The exam will cover information from the Introduction (Computer History) Unit through the Manipulating Images in Expression Web unit.

Your child's final grade will be based on the following evaluation.

Assignments/Discussions - 30%
Projects - 30%
Quizzes - 20%
Final Exam - 20%

You will be able to view your child's final official grade on Thursday, December 12.

Grades Updated for November 8 Assignments

Grades for assignments that were due on November 8, have been updated. Please access your parent account and view your child's grades and my feedback. Assignments not submitted November 8, can be submitted late through 11:59 p.m., November 15. A 10% late penalty will be applied each school day the assignment is not submitted.

The next assignment deadline is Friday, November 22.
