Luce Notes
Important information, dates, and school updates.
Principal Lamour's Notes
Hello Luce Families,
We had a great week at the Luce! Kindergarten students had a visit from Hedgie, students were able to head out for recess, and a lot of great learning happened! All families should have received their child's winter screener parent report on Thursday. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
This week we will have our Laser Mania school assembly on January 30th. February is around the corner and so are two amazing school events. One is Top Secret Science on February 6th, 7th, and 8th and the other is our musical on February 9th and 10th. We need additional volunteers to support the musical. Please see how you can get involved below.
Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to support the remaining play rehearsals until the show and during the days of the play to man the green room. All volunteers need to be CORI'd. Volunteers supporting the green room need to be CORI'd and finger printed. Please reach out to: luceelementarymusical@gmail.com if you are interested.
CORI Forms (ACTION NEEDED)
If you are planning to volunteer in the school, please make sure that you have an updated CORI form on file. Please check with the main office if you have questions about your form.
Please read ahead for important updates and events coming up at the Luce!
Cold weather Gear (Repost)
It has been very cold outside, and all recess has been suspended until the weather improves. Our goal is to get our kids outside as often as we can when possible. As we prepare for warmer days ahead, please ensure your child is equipped with winter gear a jacket and any other cold weather gear as you see fit for when we engage in outdoor recess. If your family needs help with getting winter gear, please reach out to me directly.
Arrival Procedure (Repost)
As a reminder, please make sure that any student arriving to the Luce after 8:40 is accompanied by an adult. These students will need to be signed in, per our daily protocol, to ensure safety for all students.
Parking Lot and Drop Off (Repost)
As a reminder, please make sure we are adhering to our safety protocols in the parking lot at drop off as well. When dropping students off at the main entrance, please make sure we are pulling all the way up, and then following the correct lanes to exit the parking lot. Also, please make sure we are not parking in the fire or drop off lanes. All of these routines are to ensure both student and family safety.

Nurse Bonner's Notes
January brings National Hobby Month. Before January is done, see if you can focus on a hobby you can do for yourself and with your kids. Our days are busy but finding a hobby you enjoy is great for your health and your children's health. It can relieve stress, challenge your brain and provide experiences for everyone outside the ever present screen time. This year I am doing more sewing and re-discovering my love of the stars that I can look at with my kids. See if you can challenge yourself this month to set some time for you and your children separately to either pick up that hobby you always wanted to do or one you already are doing if you can do it more often. I would love to hear all your adventures to get more ideas myself. Happy Hobby-ing. Here are some ideas: https://www.purewow.com/family/hobbies-for-kids

STAR Family Reports for Grades 1-5
Your child has recently taken a Renaissance STAR assessment. Your child's teacher uses the results to measure general achievement in reading and/or math, and to determine your child's learning needs. It is important to understand that these test scores provide only one picture of how your child is doing in school. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher. In addition to the Star Family Report your child received, click this link to provide more context about your child’s scores and performance.

School Grounds: School campuses are closed to the general public during school hours (including playgrounds, fields, basketball courts, walkways near and around our buildings). There are signs on the basketball and playground fences. If a non-school person is on the grounds during the school day they will be asked to leave.
