I have moved back home to Bell Block after studying at Victoria University in Wellington for the last 4 years. I am a past student of Puketapu School and am looking forward to coming back to the whānau at Puketapu.
I am very passionate about play based environments and students being able to lead their own learning. I look forward to contributing back to our community and returning back to my old primary school.

Values Prize Draw
Last week our focus was on Kia Manawanui - being kind to our environment. Our environment is our classroom, our play areas, our gardens, our community... Children were spotted doing wonderful things all over the place!
The winner was... Ngariki Brown who won both draws!
The prize was 15 Minutes of Free Time!
Congratulations to all those who had their name in the draw - you have been awesome!
This week we are staying with Kia Manawanui and focusing on being kind. There are many ways to be kind and we are looking at being kind to others and being kind to ourselves.
Year 7&8 Summer Camp
Thank you so much to the many parents who helped out on camp, cooking, supporting and being amazing. Thank you to all those who donated food, brought extra blankets and went the extra mile for us.
The most challenging thing I did was...
Millah: Rafting.
Serennah: Rafting
Alex: Animal survival... or rafting
Nevaeh: To charge my phone!
Ryan: Climbing
The thing I am most proud of doing - that I was most scared of, but did it anyway:
Millah: The Blob
Serennah: The Blob... and Paintball.
Nevaeh: The massive hydroslide that went into the water
Alex: The Blob. And paintball. And the hydroslide as well!
Ryan: Hydroslide
If I could choose one thing to do again, today, it would be:
Millah: Paintball!
Serennah: Rocket!
Nevaeh: Go karts!
Alex: I dont know... all of it!
Ryan: Hydroslide!
Serennah: The thing I was most excited about was... animal survival, the blob, all the water activities, paintball, go karting, shooting, archery, rocket, kayaking, rafting and climbing.
Millah: It was so fun. I would definitely do it again.
Celebration Evening
Next Friday 7 December we have our school Celebration Night where all our students, staff, whanau, friends and community come together to celebrate the end of the year.
There will be food from 5pm until 6pm - don't be late since as soon as the show starts the food stops.
There will also be raffles – one of which is a Christmas Hamper.
We are asking every student to bring in at least one item to add to our Christmas Hamper – food, crackers, treats, decorations… anything that adds to the Christmas theme.
Tickets will be on sale the week before Celebration Evening and on the night.
Robotics
A couple of weeks ago a group of students got the chance to do robotics with some teachers from Sacred Heart College. One of the teachers was Mrs Wigley who will be teaching at Puketapu next year.
First we started by thinking what we wanted to do on our tamagotchi.
Next we got our supplies that we needed and we started to build our masterpiece.
Once we finish our little tamagotchi we started our coding
We went on this coding website, Microsoft Coding, and then started to programme our chip. Finally once that was finish it was time to put our chip and the battery in our tamagotchi and we were all done. It was really cool when it danced.
We’d like to say Thank you to the teachers who came in to take us for Robotics.

Kia Manawanui for our plants
Desperately seeking...
We need pants! Shorts, tights, trackies... for boys and girls, size 4-7.
Our Rimu akonga have great fun playing and learning, but sometimes we get wet or muddy or painty... and sometimes accidents happen.
If you have some old pants/tights/shorts or trackies that you could donate to the Rimu team, please drop them in any time.
Moving? Leaving? Joining? Changing?
If you know you are going to be moving in the holidays or early next year, or if you have a child likely to start school here, or have any other information that would help us, please do let us know. Thanks!
Christmas Float - can you help?

Something to think about...
We need a diverse, representative Board to govern our school into the next stage of our journey.
The Board
• is accountable for student achievement
• sets the vision for our kura
• ensures our school complies with legal and policy requirements
In May 2019 we will be electing our Board for 2019-2022
