The ROCORI Way

The ROCORI Way

As a school we are embarking on a process to help define and teach the behaviors we hope to see out of students in each area of our building. As we work to refine what the “ROCORI Way” looks like specifically, we also are acknowledging those students that are Respectful, Responsible and Kind. Some of our students have been nominated by staff for exemplifying these areas of the ROCORI way, and if your student was one of them, we want to acknowledge that. Emails will be coming to those students’ guardians who were nominated, all nominated students will receive a certificate, and a few of them will be drawn for a prize. We want to acknowledge and celebrate our ROCORI students who demonstrate Respectfulness, Responsibility and Kindness.

FLEXIBLE CONFERENCES CLARIFICATION 11/7

Communication and clarity are very important. The ROCORI district calendar lists November 7th as a conference day. RMS/RHS students do not have school on November 7th. ROCORI Middle and High School will use a flexible conference schedule this year to meet the needs and schedules of our families. If you have a desire to visit with your child’s teacher(s), please reach out to them and they will gladly set aside time to meet. Our hope is that many teachers have already communicated important information like grades, progress, behaviors, class expectations, and positive interactions with you. There will be no in-person conferences on November 7th, unless organized by you and your child’s teachers.

Sincerely,

ROCORI Secondary School Administration

Helping Families Access the Child Tax Credit by November 15!

Families with no income or low income could get at least $3,600 per child with the Child Tax Credit, plus $1,400 with the third stimulus payment - even if they have never filed taxes before and if they have not filed taxes this year. It is estimated that more than 33,000 children in Minnesota could miss out on this money if their parent/guardian has not filed.

A tool was created in partnership with the White House and the US Department of Treasury for families to file on their mobile devices in 15 minutes or less at: www.getctc.org

Attached is the English language informational flyer. Flyers are available in multiple languages at: https://childtaxcreditoutreach.org/

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

ROCORI Middle and High School will be hosting a Scholastic bookfair in the Innovation Center from Monday October 31st-Thursday November 3rd. The fair will run from 7:45-3:45 each of those days. This is a great way to get new books in your hands and to help raise funds for ROCORI. If you would like to see more information about the upcoming fair you can visit the link below.

SENIOR PORTRAITS

ATTENTION SENIORS: Your senior portrait is due next Tuesday, November 1. If you do not have your senior portrait scheduled, please let Renee Bacon know by emailing: baconr@rocori.k12.mn.us and she can help you find someone to take it.

Also, if your parents/guardians want to submit your baby photo AND message, they are due on November 15. This is OPTIONAL and there is NO FEE to have them printed in the yearbook. Photos and messages can be submitted through email or in hard/paper copy and will be returned to you.

If you have any questions, please contact Renee at baconr@rocori.k12.mn.us

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT

We will be hosting our FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion Event on Wednesday, November 2nd from 5:00pm-7:00pm. This is an opportunity to complete the FAFSA with support from School Counselors and Financial Aide Counselors from the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University. Space will be limited, and registration is requested to attend. Those interested should register by emailing or calling Roz in the Guidance Office jungelsr@rocori.k12.mn.us / 320-685-4916.

While our FAFSA Completion Event is a great opportunity to receive help and support to complete the FAFSA, the FAFSA can be completed by most families without much assistance. If you do need help when completing the FAFSA, the colleges/universities your student may attend are also a helpful resource in answering questions and providing support. Below we have provided some direction and resources that may be helpful to you in completing this process on your own.
