We have finished our work with the novel Esperanza Rising. Throughout the month of November, we will begin a unit on natural disasters. This unit covers cause and effect relationships in non-fiction texts.


Students will move into an informative writing unit.


Math (Mr. S, Mrs. Glover and Mr. G)

The following concepts will be covered throughout the month of November:


  • Developing Multiplication and Division Strategies

  • Understanding the Concept of Multiplying Whole Numbers by Fractions

5th grade Next Generation Science Standards are explored through a variety of STEMscopes units. Upcoming units include:


  • Food Webs

  • Ecosystems

Social Studies: (Mr. S, Mrs. Glover and Mr. G)

Social Studies instruction will begin during the third quarter of the school year.
