A Message from Mr. Kosal:

Together we make a family!

Greetings, Red Imp families! This is Mr. Patrick Kosal, your proud interim principal. After a bumpy last week in terms of student behaviors at MMS, I want to take a brief moment to thank all the parents and students that called or emailed about school safety. Our school resource officer, administration team, district officials, and teachers have banded together to ensure that fighting and threats to others at Mooresville Middle School will receive the appropriate discipline and consequences. Quite frankly, that behavior will not ever be tolerated at our school. Red Imp students cannot learn and grow in our building when constant disruptions of threats or fighting are preoccupying their attention. In the coming weeks, our leadership team will be reviewing many school policies (such as dress code and cell phone policies) in the hopes of eliminating as many distractions as possible from the school day so students can focus on their learning. The fact that North Carolina has labeled us a 'low-performing school' means we need to make changes -- the status quo isn't working and our kids deserve better. Be ready, Red Imp families, for some changes as we approach quarter #2 of the school year.

Here's a brief overview of what's to come in today's newsletter. If you have questions, always feel free to call the MMS main office or email the administrators listed below.

In this newsletter, you'll read about:

  • How to be a MMS Motivator
  • School Picture make up day & ordering info
  • invitation to second MGSD Picnic at the Park event on 9/22/22
  • Upcoming Panorama student survey days
  • PTSO Spirit Store is selling MGSD tervis mugs

  • Book & Diaper drive, courtesy of Junior Excel club
  • invitation to MGSD Hispanic Heritage Event on 10/3/22
  • Progress reports coming next Friday

Thanks for reading, and I wish every Red Imp family an awesome weekend!

Make-Up School Picture Day + Ordering MMS School Pictures

Mark your calendars: MMS school picture make-up day is planned for Wednesday, September 28th.

The first round of picture days happened this past week at MMS. If you'd like to see / order pictures of your student, please follow these directions:

Go to (our school photographer) -> Order online -> click on ‘MMS’ -> pick ‘Fall Pictures.' If your child's pictures aren't uploaded, check back in around a week -- they'll be posted soon! Parents will put in their student’s school ID number to find your child's photos available for purchase. Pictures will get shipped directly to your home.

Again, make-up picture day is scheduled for September 28th.

MMS Motivator volunteers:

MMS is looking for Motivators for our 2022 - 2023 school year! If you are a parent, grandparent, or even community member with a heart for children, we want your help! MGSD piloted this new program the final month of 2022 at MHS, and had so much positive feedback. We are now excited to be expanding the impact to MMS! If you have an hour a week, we would love to have you. Email Ms. Brown for more information.

Progress Reports emailed home next Friday

Progress Reports go out next Friday, September 23rd. You should receive these through ParentSquare by 11:00 AM on Friday, September 23rd.

How to alert MMS of a student absence:

The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is:

Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. We hope this process will be easier on everyone instead of always sending a note with the student that gets lost so easily!
