Friday Folders
There is A LOT of information in Friday Folders this week. Please look at them over the long weekend!
IAR Testing
The students have (mostly) completed IAR testing. They worked very hard on these tests over the past two weeks and we are very proud of them!
Reading
We began our last unit of the year! FANTASY BOOK CLUBS! We started the unit by previewing the different options. The kids got to spend 2 minutes with each book, previewing it, rating it, and defending their rating. Then, they gave me their top 3 choices and I tried to give them a book that they wanted! Today, we got into the texts and talked about the different types of worlds that many fantasy books are set in. THE STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE THESE BOOKS HOME AND READ AT HOME! Please remember that this is your child's responsibility, but they may need to be reminded to take them out and read them! Thank you for the support! :)
Please check your child's Friday Folder for their Informational Assessment.
Math
The past two weeks in math have been dedicated to quadrilaterals. We looked at the different characteristics of each type of quadrilateral. The students identified the shape based on sides, angles, and parallel lines. We spent a great deal of time discussing the relationship between each shape using true/false statements and always statements. The students assessed on this half of the module today, and will finish up next week.
Teambuilding!
Writing
This week we added meaningful analysis to our argument pieces. The students pushed their thinking beyond a restatement of their reason to truly explain how the evidence supports their argument.
