History of Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd. Earth day was first celebrated in 1970 but became recognized worldwide in 1990. Gaylord Nelson is the founder of Earth Day. It originated in the U.S. The tradition of Earth Day around the world is for everyone to go around picking up trash, plant trees and come up with ways to make the world better and cleaner.
Purpose
The purpose of Earth Day is to big people together for one cause no matter your background. The main purpose is to make the world a better place to live in such as pollution, recycling and poverty.
Partners
There are over 35 organizations that help spread information about Earth Day. Some organizations are for Educational use, Business use, Environmental use or even Governmental use. The organizations are located all around the world. Places very from Columbia. Atlanta, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, California and even the Bahamas.
The Movement
Earth Day created public support to help promote clean air, clean environment, public health, and help endangered animals. Earth Day Movement will take place in Washington DC this year. They will be honoring Mr Nelson who was the founder of Earth Day. He passed away in 2005.
