The Luce Scholastic Book Fair Is Coming!
Hello Luce Families!
We had such amazing success at our spring book fair we wanted to offer our students another opportunity to fall in love with a book just in time for winter break!
Choose. Read. Repeat. Your kids make the rules at the book fair. Empower them with "book choice" at our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, December 12th through Friday, December 16th! Students in grades 1-5 will visit the fair at their regular library time. Our Kindergarten friends are invited to a special family event on Thursday, December 15th. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Carty at Cartyj@cantonma.org

Nurse Bonner Updates
With so many illnesses circulating around, it is hard to know when you should keep your child home from school. The full guidelines can be found here (p.71-74), but I'm including them below for your convenience. As always, give me a call if you have any questions. (781) 821-5075 x6109.
Illness Requiring Absence from School
Upon return from any absence, students must provide a note describing the reason for the absence. If your child is out of school for five days or more you should notify the school nurse. Any school absence for five or more consecutive days requires a note from a health care provider which should be presented to the school nurse before the student returns to school. Without medical documentation these are considered unexcused absences.
Here are some guidelines to follow. Keep your child home if he/she/they:
● Has evidence of a newly developed cold (runny, stuffy nose, coughing, sneezing). The greatest period of contagion is the first 2-3 days after onset of symptoms.
● Has Covid-19 or Covid-19 symptoms.
● Has the flu or flu symptoms.
● Has an elevated temperature, over 100° (degrees) within the past 24 hours.
● Has a suspicious rash.
● Has pain or discharge from eye(s) or ear(s).
● Has had an upset stomach, vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours.
● Has a contagious disease (i.e. strep throat, tonsillitis, bronchitis, conjunctivitis, etc.) until he/she/they has been seen and treated by a doctor with at least 24 - 48 hours of treatment, is fever free for 24 hours, and feels well enough to be able to participate in school activities.
If your child should develop any of these or other symptoms hindering the child’s ability to learn during school hours, the school nurse will notify you and the child will be dismissed.
Luce CAPT Update
2022 Luce Holiday Shop!
Join the Luce CAPT to celebrate the giving season with this year’s Holiday Shop. We are returning to the traditional approach where it will be held in the School Cafeteria after a half-day, this year on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (after early dismissal). The Luce CAPT has been busy all year finding great items for the kids (and parents and siblings and friends!) to buy for their loved ones for the holidays. Prices range from $1 - $8 and there is something for everyone - even our furry friends! In addition to great gifts for everyone, there will be a free wrapping station for the kids to wrap their presents, and Spirit Wear! All children must be accompanied by an adult to attend. ***If any families require financial assistance to participate in the Holiday Shop, please email Principal Lamour at lamoury@cantonma.org***
We are still seeking many volunteers that are needed to make the Holiday shop run. Click here for our sign-up genius if you are able to help!

Math Webinar
On Wednesday, November 2, we held two math webinars for elementary parents and guardians in Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5. The webinar shared information about our curriculum review process and why Reveal Math was chosen, shared some components of the program and helped parents understand how they can access the online resources from home. The recordings of the webinar are available for parents.
Note: The video included in the slide deck did not work properly in this session. You can access the video here.
