Course Description
Examine the methods, history and practitioners of nonviolent solutions to conflict in this discussion-based course.
Topics include:
- The success of nonviolence
- The Danish Resistance
- Gandhian strategies
- Women and nonviolence
- Thinkers such as Tolstoy, Martin Luther King Jr, Barbara Lee, Jeanette Rankin

Colman McCarthy
A former Washington Post columnist, Colman McCarthy has been the director of the Center for Teaching Peace for 25 years. He currently teaches at Georgetown University Law Center, American University, the University of Maryland, Wilson High School, and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.
