The Catholic Christian Community of St. Anthony of Padua welcomes all to our celebration of God's love. Through prayer, education, sacraments, caring and stewardship, we strive to serve the needs of God's people and to gain a richer understanding of the gospel message of love.

In the Classroom This Week:

Religion

This week we are beginning Chapter 3- Baptism Unites Us with the Christian Community. We will be discussing how water is a symbol of Baptism and how water cleanses us from original sin. We will discuss the use of the sacramentals in Baptism.

Language Arts

In Writing and Grammar students are learning how to form a complex sentence. They will be using subordinating conjunctions to combine two related ideas.


Students took a Unit 3 Spelling pretest yesterday. Students who earned 100% on the pretest will not need to take the test Friday.

Math

Students having been working on Chapter 3. Students should be able to understand the difference between the 4 Multiplication Properties. Students will be able to explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Students will also be able to use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.


Friday students will have a review quiz from past lessons as well as this weeks lessons.

Social Studies

Students will continue to study the different tribes this week so that by next week they will be able to select the tribe that they would like to make their shoe box diorama. Students will chose their tribe on Thursday. Students will need to bring a shoe box and supplies to class starting Tuesday, September 26. Supplies needed depend on which region your child selects.

Science

In Science students will be able to identify the stages in the life cycles of stars. The will learn about a protostar, a main-sequences star, dwarf stars, red giants, supernova’s and more. Tuesday students will complete a study guide to help prepare them for the Unit 1 Assessment that will be given on Thursday.

Conference Forms

Conference forms are coming home today. Please keep an eye out in your child's Tuesday Folder. If you need to make a change in your conference time, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

Schedule Reminders

9/21 Thursday- 5T Hot Lunch


9/22 Friday- 5A class mass. Students from 5A will be leading the school mass. Please join us as we lead the celebration. Students must come in Mass uniform bottoms, but are allowed to wear any carnival t-shirt they have.


9/24 School Carnival

9/25 Monday- No School: Parent Teacher Conferences.

9/26-9/27 Minimum Days: Parent Teacher Conferences after school.

Calendar Additions

Pinwheels for Peace will be honored Thursday 9/21. Class Reps need to be at school by 7:30 am on Thursday to help display the Pinwheels.

Math Lab/Homework Club

Homework Club will begin Wednesday, October 11

Homework Club is held in Room 5 each Wednesday and Room 8 each Thursday until 3:30. Students must sign in and out with the teacher.
