Training course on mental health and trauma tools for Youth
What?
BEHIND THE CURTAINS is a training course for youth workers and trainers aimed at:
Developing youth workers' competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) and resources for working with young people dealing with psychological trauma through art based techniques and non formal education methods.
What for?
A) To provide a theoretical background of different kinds of trauma and trauma processing, enhancing empathic approach through self-experience learning.
B) To foster youth workers´ capacities to feel grounded when it comes to work with young people's traumas.
C) To introduce a "black bag" full of tools for approaching young people under traumatizing experiences and to practice them in order to help them to provide themselves with emotional well-being (including drama therapy, art and music therapy techniques, mindfulness and body movement).
D) To promote the networking among participants so that they can plan further new projects under this topic or others connected with Erasmus Plus and young people well-being.
Approaches and Contents
Main contents will be:
1. Concept and types of traumas.
2. Main approaches when working with trauma and young people from a socio-therapeutic perspective.
3. Art therapy tools: plastic materials for personal awareness.
2. Gestalt Therapy essentials.
3. Drama Therapy (Gestalt Theatre techniques).
4. Music as a tool for personal well-being and personal growth.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Participants attending this course have to meet the following criteria:
- Aged between 25 onwards
- Work with groups of people and be potential multipliers of the learning in the course
- Fully motivated to participate in all the activities bearing in mind their intensive emotional impact.
Please make sure that you can find participants with a professional profile as this course will requiere a very good level of maturity and self-awareness.
