August 2021 Newsletter

Remington Elementary School

Dear Remington Families,

We are off and running with the 2021-2011school year!

Our staff spent the summer preparing our building, engaging in professional development and enjoying a little rest time! Remington teachers and staff are eagerly awaiting for our learners to return to school. We are all eager to partner with you to provide our students a year of personal and academic growth.

As partners, we share the responsibility for our learner’s success and our Remington Team is committed to all our learners to ensure they will achieve to their highest potential. We kindly ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

· Attends school daily and arrives on time

· Completes all assignments given by teachers

· Reads daily to support literacy skills and to develop a love of reading. LEXIA practice at home will reinforce the literacy skills students are learning.

· Participate in ST Math (on-line program) to support strong math skills and problems solving skills

Through hard work, effective instructional practices, research-based effective curriculum and a strong community partnership, our year will be a great success!

Last school year, through survey results, several Remington parents identified a desire for our staff to continue to focus on “social emotional, well-being of children.” Through counselor visits, curriculum delivered by our counselor and teachers, class community circles and staff professional learning, we hope to meet your child’s needs in this area.

Soon, you will see postings on DOJO and our website inviting you to our PTA Meeting and School Accountability Committee. Please consider joining these wonderful group of parents and teachers! We need your support and insight!

We have received information from the District Office (see Mr. Hilts’ video posted on D49 website and D49 Facebook page) we will begin the year with normal operations. That means, no face masks and no staggered starts nor dismissals. That being said, students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:45am. Classes begin at 7:55am. Dismissal is at 3:00pm (hand to hand) for kindergarten. All other classes will be dismissed at 3:05 pm. Please make arrangements with your students as to where you will be picking them up (front or back of school). Kindergarten has provided a schedule for all parents for tomorrow, August 2nd. Please follow the kindie schedule.

All students attend school, Tuesday, August 3rd.

We are all looking forward to a great school year! Thank you for sharing your children with us!
