Dublin Jerome High School
Take Responsibility, Always Growing, Better Together
March 3, 2023
A message from me...
Good Afternoon!
This weekend we have a number of our programs competing in state or district level events. Our students, coaches and advisors have been working so hard and have earned these opportunities. I wanted to share an example our their mindsets has they head into these championships.
Last night our cheerleaders had one of their final practices before states and one of the senior traditions is to sign the cheer mats and leave a message for future Celts. The picture to the right has a message left by one of our seniors "You GET to". Over the course of this year there have been many conversations about mindset and the idea of "have to" vs. get to". Our kids and staff work so hard and you can see why they are so willing to do so in this short message.
By having this "get to" mindset there is never a day take for granted or an opportunity missed. When I saw this last night, I was overwhelmed with hope and pride. We are sending some phenomenal young people into the world and they are going to make a difference.
My challenge for you this week is to change some of your have tos to get tos! You may find that small shift in mindset does wonders.
I am so proud I get to be the principal at Jerome!
Good luck to all of our teams and programs in their competitions this weekend!
Better Together,
Mike

Last weekend, Jerome's Junior State of America (JSA) chapter attended the Ohio River Valley and MidWest's Winter Congress in Indianapolis! JSA is a non-partisan youth organization that aims to nurture students' debate skills and guide them into being effective civic participants.
At Winter Congress, Divija Kandru, Kanav Azad, Varun Dommeti, Maggie Capobianco, Isabel George, Oli Wood, and Anna O'Connell were granted the amazing opportunity to learn about activism initiatives, debate bills written by fellow delegates, and engage in thought talks! We were able to pass our non-consolidation bill, written by Isabel and Oli, in every Congress, have delegates speak on behalf of almost every bill, and win 3 best speaker gavels.
JSA is such an amazing community for each and every student! If you or anyone you know may be interested, please have contact Mrs. Hannah (hannah_candice@dublinschools.net) or Chapter President Divija Kandru (kandru.2@dublinstudents.net).

CELTS, LEAVE YOUR MARK AT DUBLIN JEROME WITH A COMMEMORATIVE BRICK
With the new addition to Dublin Jerome High School, the commemorative brick patio is also getting some additions… your personalized Celtic Brick. The current brick patio was installed in 2014 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the DJHS as a gift from that year’s senior class. Who knew that less than 10 years later, we would need the current additions to accommodate the incredible growth in our schools? The original patio will be relocated to the front of the school near the new school addition in the summer of 2023. The relocation allows us to add additional bricks to complement the original memorial bricks.
This is your opportunity to purchase a beautiful, engraved brick paver to celebrate and memorialize students, alumni, school team, club, organization, or your favorite teacher in a meaningful and unique way that is forever set in stone.
Fill out the information below to purchase your Celt Brick and then don’t forget to come to see your commemorative brick during the grand opening of the school next fall.
4x8 bricks are $100 and can have up to 4 lines with up to 21 characters per line (Recommended: 3 lines, 18 characters). All proceeds go directly to the PTO to support all students and teachers at Dublin Jerome.
