Watermelons are sweet with juicy red flesh. The melon is large and oval shaped. The rind is smooth and has varying shades of green. It is usually stripped lighter and darker green.

There are high concentrations of lycopene, which is extremely important for our cardiovascular system. Right now, watermelon accounts for U.S. intake of lycopene than any other whole fruit. Watermelons also include phenolic antioxidants, flavonoids, lycopene, and vitamin C.

Typically, watermelon is not cooked. I've only ever seen it being eaten raw, and in fruit salads.
