Principal's Message
Greetings Cavalier Parents, Scholars, and Community Friends,
Happy Holidays! As we look ahead to 2023, I want to thank you for allowing us to be apart of your child's educational journey this year- stay tuned for more fun and exciting learning experiences during the second semester. May these days off be full of joy, happiness and time to create new memories with your child.
Thank you to all parents/guardians who attended our Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) iPad Distribution "Signing Days". During our iPad Distribution days, we were able to sign out iPads to our scholars who completed the required steps. Our next iPad Distribution day is Tuesday, December 20th beginning at 5:00pm -7:30pm in the Performing Arts Theatre.
In order for your child to receive an iPad the following three steps must be taken:
- Students must complete all six lessons of their assigned Digital Citizenship Course in Canvas.
- Parents and students must read and complete all activities/documents in the VILS registration packet.
- The registering parent and student must attend the mandatory face-to face orientation. That’s it. Once you’re checked-in, the “Signing” process takes no more than 20 mintues.
Help us reach our goal by having 100% of our iPads distributed before Winter Break.
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a progress monitoring tool that will be administered three times per year to track your child's progress in learning the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout this school year. We will begin our FAST Progress Monitoring Assessment #2 immediately upon our return from Winter Break. Parents please remind your child the importance of doing their best on ALL assessments. Please review the enclosed parent letters regarding the FAST PM#2 Assessment dates and content areas. All assessments will begin promptly at 8:30am, it is important that your child is in attendance, on time, and ready to test. Research shows, that studentts do significantly better with their classroom teachers than when they take a make-up assessment with someone that they are unfamiliar with.
Congratulations to our THESPIANS TROUPE #88050 they will be traveling to Orlando, FL for the Florida State Thespian Festival. A special "shout out" goes to Scholar King Bell who was selected to perform his "Solo Musical Performance" during the opening ceremony at the magnificent Chapin Theatre.
Lastly, I look forward to seeing you at this month’s upcoming meetings on Tuesday, December 20th. There will be a GAP Principal’s Chat at 4:30pm followed by our School Advisory Council/ School Advisory Forum at 5:00pm in the Media Center.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season,
Angeline H. Flowers, Proud Principal
