November 2021
Letter from the Principal
Greetings SPHS Caregivers, Family and Friends,
The month of November is a time for Thanksgiving and reflection. Sun Prairie High School staff is extremely thankful for the numerous opportunities to build and restore positive relationships with your child and to inspire them towards an optimistic journey of self- awareness and self-confidence. Understanding the importance of in-person instruction after 18 months of unprecedented times in education, staff is constantly working on SPHS’s learning community by encouraging scholars to be active members who attend their classes, engage in the work, and become involved in a sport or an extracurricular club or committee.
As we wrap up the first quarter, we remain committed to work with all scholars’ social, emotional, and academic needs. Caregivers, we need you to partner with us as you are an essential part of this work and our school’s community. Several parents have volunteered to assist SPHS during scholar’s lunch time. If you are able to volunteer, we are requesting volunteers from 11:30 – 2:00 pm. Anytime you can spare is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the high school.
On Friday, November 5th, there is no school for scholars as Sun Prairie Area staff will be participating in a booster vaccine clinic. We are requesting scholars to use this time to work on their formative assignments and prepare for any upcoming summatives. Remember your scholar’s grades will be posted in Infinite Campus on Thursday, November 4th. We encourage our families to reach out to your child’s teacher whenever there is a question or concern. You do not need to wait until the conference to talk with them. If you have questions about logging in to IC, please reach out to Andrea Omeja at 608-834-6717.
Several weeks ago, we held Family/Teacher Conferences using a hybrid format. Thank you to all who participated. We are looking at offering hybrid conferences again in late February and will share more information about those in the coming months.
As we head into November, there are a few key dates we want our families to be aware of:
November 5
No School
November 9
Parent meeting at 6 pm
More information will be provided
November 24 -26
No School
We are here to help support and work with you at all times. Take care and have a wonderful November! As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Warmest Regards,
Renee Coleman, Principal

Wearing A Mask On School Buses
Masks remain a simple but powerful tool to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We want to remind parents that students (and drivers) must wear a mask on school buses, regardless of their vaccination status.
Thank you for helping to keep all students safe while riding the bus!
Math League
There are 4 opportunities each year for students to participate in fun and challenging math contests, through the Madison Area Mathematics League(MAML). This series of meets are hosted by the Madison high schools and always occurs on a Wednesday after school. The contests are open to any student who has an interest and are filled using the first-come-first-served policy. Sample contests, sign-up information, and permission forms can be found in the Math League Google Classroom (join code: ls7swir). All announcements will be posted through Google Classroom.
This year’s competition dates are Oct. 27, Dec. 1, Feb. 9, and Mar. 16. The first two dates will be “virtual at home school”. That is, we will submit online but participate together from our own high school. Watch Google Classroom for details as the competition nears. Please feel free to contact Ms. Bethany Konz at bakonz@sunprairieschools.org with any questions.
