Due to limited technology, our students will take one core content each day and will take their elective semester exams on Thursday and Friday. Each teacher will give an exam and students will not be allowed to take the exams early. If a student misses an exam, they will receive a 0 in the gradebook and will have to retake the exam the week we return from the holiday break in tutorials after school. Please help us by making sure your student attends school each day.

State Assessment & Testing (STAAR)

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) test is being redesigned to make the test more tightly aligned to the classroom experience.

The STAAR redesign is a result of House Bill (HB) 3906 passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in 2019. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), working with a wide range of education stakeholders, including the Assessment Education Advisory Committee, has been exploring the most instructionally supportive approach to implementing these changes. The redesign will be implemented in the state summative assessments administered in the 2022–2023 school year.

The STAAR redesign includes several components:

For more information about how the STAAR redesign improves alignment to the classroom experience, hear what teachers are saying, reference the STAAR Redesign February 2022 Presentation (PDF, posted 3/7/22), or see below for more information about each component. For answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), please reference the STAAR Redesign FAQ (PDF, updated 8/30/22). You may access the STAAR online testing platform for practice here.

Ms. Reyna met with 8th grade students from November 11 - Nov 16, 2022 to discuss high school registration and high school planning. This lesson was to help prepare them for the visit from Summer Creek Counselors on January 10, 2023. You are able to find the course selection planning guide that we used and more information here.

All course selection will be completed in Naviance in January and parents will have access to login and approve their course selections at that time. We hope to make this a smooth transition to high school.

All students are encouraged to attend our CCMR Night to learn more about pursuing their career pathway in middle and high school.

Students in 6th and 7th grade have met individually with their counselor and started initial planning for the next school year. They will complete course selection in January and February
