Happening this week...

This week marks the beginning of the third grading period. As we approach the holiday season, remember to stay focused on grades. Continue to check Skyward and attend tutoring as needed.

Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Marek

Marek: This week we are continuing our work in Project E.C.O, a unit about organisms and environments. We will have a test over cells and internal adaptations Friday 11/10.

Sanchez: We will finish up our tri-fold boards early next week and begin our next unit over organisms and environments.
ALL:Make sure that you have made plans to attend BISD Space Night at CHS from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m on November 14th. This is mandatory for all students. Parents are also encouraged to attend to celebrate our scientists’ hard work in Mission 12!

STEAM Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Hernandez

Marek: In class we will be wrapping up SSEP and launching a new unit on organisms and environments.

Sanchez-: We will finish up our tri-Fold boards early next week and begin our next unit over organisms and environments.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons

This week we will be launching our new unit, “You Are What You Eat”. You can keep up with our learning here. I will be off campus attend CAST, the state Science Teachers Conference Thursday and Friday. Students will be learning about chemical compounds in my absence. There will be no tutoring available this week.

This week we will begin working on Unit 4 which covers Proportional Reasoning. Students will focus on ratios and rates and calculating unit rates this week. This unit will take us through the rest of the first semester. Please make sure your child is preparing for their vocabulary test and unit test throughout the unit.

This week we will begin Unit 4 over Proportional Reasoning. Students will be focusing on ratios, rates and percents, as well as linear proportions.

Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden

Students are launching their Mexico and Central America Google My Map unit. Students will work in teams to analyze and organize information from various research databases to display their knowledge of this part of Latin America. Language Arts will parallel this study with readings from The Silver People: Voices of the Panama Canal and analysis of art from Central America through socratic seminars.

Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen


This week we are beginning research for our new unit. Students will collaborate with team members to plan and promote an event that will take place in our classroom.

Art ~ Mrs. Beam


  • This week we will be wrapping up our value & realism unit with artist statements and portfolio posts!

  • We will begin our next unit focusing on watercolor techniques and basic color theory.

  • SAVE THE DATE! STEAM Holiday Art Show & Artome Sale will take place on Dec. 1st in the evening. More details to come!

Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert


Our winter concert will be on December 7th at 6:30pm in the BHS Auditorium. It is free and open to the public. Students have begun working on the literature for this performance and our videos and focus for the next several weeks will be based on this material. Please ensure that your student continues practicing at home at least 10 minutes everyday.

Great job this past week with our new games! We will wrap up our soccer unit this week. Look forward to more team activities incorporating soccer skills and the tournament at the end of the week.
