Welcome Faride Hernandez!
Piscataway High School welcomes Faride Hernandez as the new supervisor of the College, Career and Personal Guidance Department as of Monday, October 16th. She can be reached at fhernandez@pway.org
We have also updated information on the counseling tab of the Piscataway High School website so please be sure to look for information there for scholarship opportunities, internship and volunteer opportunities, etc.

Upcoming 12th Grade Parent Events:
- FAFSA Virtual Workshop 11/6: Join us as a representative from HESAA shares information on the revised FAFSA application. Register here.
- HESAA Workshops offered directly from Higher Education Student Assistant Authority: Register here
- Virtual NACAC College Fairs: 10/15 or 11/12
- In School College Visits: Students can register in Scoir. See what colleges are coming here.
- Instant Decision Days: IDDs are an opportunity for students to apply to the college and then meet with an admissions representative here at PHS and students receive an admissions' decision that day. This is a non-binding application. See the current list here.
- College Application Workshops in the Career Center: sign ups in Scoir
- Individual Appointments with School Counselors (sign up via student Genesis account)
- All students MUST email their school counselor 10 SCHOOL DAYS before a deadline with their list of colleges and deadlines.
- We will be taking students on a field trip to the Malcolm Bernard HBCU College Fair on Thursday, 11/7; permission slips will be available on Thursday, October 19th. Spots on the trip will be first come, first served after a fully complete permission slip is turned in.
- What's Next is an event held in December for students who are interested in exploring options other than a four year college (trade, military, employment, etc). Please email kchilakos@pway.org with the name of the student interested in attending this event

Outside of PHS:
What's Happening at PHS:- During the week of the month of October, school counselors will be running junior groups to share information on the high school transcript and SAT/ACT.
- In School College Visits are opportunities for students to come to the Career Center and meet with an admissions representative from a college and learn all of the information about that college. Students need to sign up in Scoir TWO days before the deadline. See what colleges are coming here.

- Upcoming SAT Dates: 12/2(deadline to register by 11/2) LAST CHANCE to take the paper SAT; in March 2024, SAT will be only offered digitally. Register here.
- Upcoming ACT Dates: 12/9 (Register by 11/3) Register here. See your school counselor if on free/reduced lunch before registering for either test.

What's Happening at PHS:
- Sophomores should explore clubs and activities and get involved in the school community.
- Sophomores should focus on their coursework and grades; ask a counselor for resources if you are struggling.
- All parents should have a Scoir account, a college and career web based program we registered students for last year; your student can invite you!
Class of 2027
What's Happening at PHS:
- Freshman should explore clubs and activities and get involved in the school community.
- In October, school counselors will be visiting freshman seminar courses and sharing information on the importance of grades and all of the academic support resources.
