Crosswalks are Back!
The crosswalk markings in front of the school have been replaced after the repaving of Laurel Street.
- Please slow down and watch for kiddos and crossing guards while dropping off or picking up.
- If parking and walking to pick up your child, please use the crosswalks and do not cross mid-block.
- If you are picking up a child curbside, please strive to have them enter the car on the passenger side at the curb rather than the street side if possible.
Thank you for staying alert and helping to keep all out kids safe.
Spring Testing Schedule for Grades 3 and 4 - Begins Week of May 2
Dear Laurel Parent or Guardian of a 3rd or 4th Grader,
Beginning the week of May 2nd, our 3rd and 4th grade students will take the 2022 Oregon State Assessment System annual assessments. The testing days will be May 2nd - 20th. Your child’s teacher will share a schedule for when students will be testing in their classrooms.
Students will take 4 separate tests: English/Language Arts Computer Adaptive Test, English/Language Arts Performance Task, Math Computer Adaptive Test and Math Performance Task.
Participation in these assessments matters because these tests:
Challenge your child to think critically and apply their knowledge to real-world problems
Go beyond multiple choice and ask your child to explain their answers
Act as a snapshot of your child’s progress and may be considered along with other pieces of information to determine your child’s academic success
Help identify schools and districts that need additional supports to ensure more students are meeting higher standards
While your child is in the testing period, you can help them to by doing the following:
Make sure your student gets a good night’s sleep.
Make sure your student eats a healthy breakfast, or gets to school early enough (8:00-8:15) to eat breakfast in the classroom.
Encourage your student to try their best even when it is difficult
If you have questions about these assessment tests, please feel free to contact me at school.
