New CCHS Clubs
Miracle Club: The Miracle Club works with UGA to raise money and awareness for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Meetings are held every Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM in Mr. Clark's room (330).
National Art Honors Society: NAHS inspires and recognizes students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. The program supports members in their efforts to attain the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. Meetings are after school on Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 in Ms. Price's room (306).
Philosophy Club: The Philosophy Club engages students in discussions and debates about issues that have perplexed thinkers for millenia. Meetings are held in Mr. Altman's room (229). Contact Altman at altmani@clarke.k12.ga.us for further information.

Gladiator Greatness
The Odyssey Media Group received 17 individual and group awards at the Georgia Scholastic Press Association Conference. Read more in the Odyssey Newsmagazine.
The CCHS Marching Band received Superior ratings at the Sound of Silver Marching Competition on October 20th. For the first time in over a decade, the drum major (2nd), color guard (3rd), percussion (3rd), and band (3rd) all placed in the top echelons of their divisions. The Band also received accolades at the Berkmar Invitational on October 27th, placing 1st in All Superiors, 2nd for drum major, 3rd for percussion, and 2nd in color guard.
Central alumnus and Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County Michael Thurmond spoke at the Athens-Clarke County Library about his book A Story Untold: Black Men and Women in Athens History. Read more in The Red & Black.
Quarterback Issac Ward was named ABH Player of the Week. Read more in the Athens Banner-Herald.
CCHS students educate and get educated on the importance of voting. Read more in the Athens Banner-Herald.
The girls cross country team is region champs and now moves on to state for the first time in school history! The boys team also qualified for state for the 3rd year in a row.
The FFA Agricultural Communications CDE team won 2nd place in the Area 2 competition and will represent CCHS and Area 2 in state competitions to be held at UGA in March.
Donate, Volunteer, Assist
Clarke Central High School and the Athens-Clarke County business community have a long-standing relationship of mutual respect and support. Each year our student-athletes benefit from the financial contributions of the Athens business community and the Gladiator family is greatly appreciative of the support. The Clarke Central Dugout Club is selling Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands to benefit the school's baseball program. Orders will be delivered for free. Deadline for ordering is November 9th. Go to this link or see any baseball player to order.

Parent Toolkit provides parents with resources to support their students in academics, social-emotional development, financial literacy, and post-secondary pursuits.
The Learning Community presents videos and articles that advise parents and students on issues ranging from homework help to gender issues.
The Parent Power Booklet was released by the U.S. Department of Education to inform parents on ways they can best support their children as they navigate life from kindergarten through high school graduation.
Kids Health: 10 Ways to Help Your Child Succeed in High School
This Kids Health article identifies practical ways parents can support their high school students.
Online Resources for Students
Read Theory is an online literacy program that provides students with reading passages and questions which simulate end-of-course testing. Most CCHS students have Read Theory accounts. Those who don't, can sign-up for free using their school Google accounts.
USA Test Prep provides testing practice for all EOC courses. CCHS students use account ID clarkecentral and activation code newton95.
Khan Academy provides lessons in all subject areas, including test prep, all in the form of easily understood YouTube videos. You'll also find information on college admissions, careers, personal finance, and starting a business.
Shmoop offers test prep, learning guides, ebooks, and academic support in all subject areas. Students log-in using their school Google accounts.
