Note from the Mrs. Beverly about PBIS
Other ways that we promote positive behavior at Bryn Mawr School is through our Bryn Mawr Wall of Fame. We make special "Waddle, Waddle" announcements and have staff nominate 1-2 students in that moment that are showing positive behavior choices or work habits to sign our Wall of Fame (listening, organized desk, cooperation, kindness, etc.). In the cafeteria, we nominate Cafeteria VIPs that earn the privilege of sitting up on the stage for showing manners, being on their best behavior, listening to teachers, and helping to clean up in the cafeteria. Classroom Penguins are earned for the entire class. When a classroom earns 10 Classroom Penguins, they can earn something special for their class like Show & Tell or PJ Day. This is when everyone in the class has risen to the challenge to and really wowed their teacher or staff member at Bryn Mawr.
Meet our New Nurse: Mrs. Robichaud!
Notes from the Nurse's Office
Just a few quick reminders:
If your child is going to be absent please call the school so we know where your student is. Safety is our top priority!
Please turn in your child’s annual physical exam to the school nurse when they have one.
Continue to practice proper hand washing with your child(ren) at home. As we get ready for the colder weather it is inevitable that our children are going to have coughs and runny noses. Hand washing is the #1 preventable measure in helping to stop the spread of germs.
Stay happy, stay healthy, stay well,
Nurse Robichaud
Reading Specialist Update
November is Family Literacy Month and it’s the perfect time to begin or build on your family’s reading habits and love of literacy. Reading as a family helps your child be more successful in school. Here are some tips:
* be a good reading role model for your child
* go to the library together, read some there & then pick out great books to bring home
* read aloud to your child even after they are reading on their own
* create a special reading space in your home
* pick a night to turn off the TV and make it family reading night instead
* make reading a daily habit
Save the Date: Bryn Mawr Family Literacy Night will be on
Thursday, November 10th from 4:30-6:00
Social Emotional Learning with Mrs. Moriarty
This year is off to a great start and I am so excited to be Bryn Mawr’s new school counselor! All classes started the year with a lesson to introduce the role of a School Counselor and learn a little bit more about me and why I love my job. I am also learning so much about them and the things that make them excited to come to school everyday.
For our class lessons this year we will be following the Second Step Curriculum. Please see the attached links to explore the skills that we will be talking about this year. We have just finished up Unit 1- Skills for Learning. These are skills that all students need to be able to be the best learner they can be. We have engaged in a variety of learning activities about listening, focusing attention, following directions, using self talk and being assertive. The kids all did amazing building on their skills each week and using these skills in class.
Check out the “Be a Learner Song” with your child today!

Our students have also been working very hard to follow our school wide expectations. When Bryn Mawr students are Respectful, Responsible and Safe they can earn a positive penguin ticket. Students who earn 10 tickets are able to select a fun activity to participate in. Many students have enjoyed signing our Wall of Fame, extra recess time, drumming club, special art and STEM projects. Way to go Positive Penguins!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions,
