Planning for Proficiency is one-day training that will provide teachers and leaders with the "how to" of identifying and unpacking high-priority standards, creating instructional calendars, creating common formative assessments, and planning for interventions. Kelley Grate, Specialist
Middle level educators meet Kelley Grate! Kelley's teaching career began at the elementary level where she taught grade K, 2, and 4 at Center Elementary School. In 2000, she ventured into the exciting world of middle level education where she taught 7th grade ELA for 17 years at Blackford Junior High School and never looked back. During her last three years in the classroom, Kelley served as lead teacher planning and delivering building-wide professional development. In August 2017, she accepted a position as a school improvement specialist with the Indiana Department of Education. Diane Vielee, Specialist
Elementary educators will not want to miss out on the opportunity to work alongside Diane Vielee this summer. Diane spent the last 27.5 years teaching at the elementary level serving in various teaching roles including elementary special education, elementary general education, and Title 1 reading intervention. Diane joined the Indiana Department of Education as a school improvement specialist in January 2019. Melissa Blossom, Assistant Director
Melissa is passionate about serving school leaders in her role as Assistant Director of School Improvement. Her teaching career began after serving five years as a probation officer in Grant County. After four years of teaching, she moved into her first administrative role at Marion High School. In 2014, after serving as dean of students, assistant principal, and associate principal during Marion's turnaround years, she accepted her first principal's position as in Blackford County. In 2017, she joined the Indiana Department of Education in curriculum and school improvement. Melissa's passion is to support principals in their roles as instructional leaders.
