Message from the Principal
Dear Advantage Arts Family,
We made it to May! The end of the school year is busy, but we have a lot of great things happening at the school. We have our Color Run in two weeks (May 13th), our Field Days are happening during the last few weeks, and our kindergarten graduation/6th grade promotion are just around the corner.
The week of May 2nd through the 6th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please let your teachers know how great they are! I get to see these wonderful educators work early in the morning, late at night, and on non-contract days to prepare the best lessons and activities for your students.
The end of the school year is here, and we are looking to start forming some ensembles (parent committees) for next year. Please look for opportunities to get involved.

Households Must Apply for Free or Reduced-price Lunch by May 6 . To Be Eligible for Pandemic EBT
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah households will need to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits with their local school no later than May 6 to be potentially eligible for pandemic EBT (P-EBT). P-EBT can help individuals purchase food if their children have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price meals due to school closures from COVID-related emergencies, or other COVID-related school absences during the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify for P-EBT, individuals must be signed up for free or reduced-price school meals.
During the 2021-22 school year, all students, regardless of income status, can receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day they attend school.
However, this does not qualify students for P EBT, nor does it automatically give students free-reduced status. To determine the free-reduced status of a student, individuals must apply through their school.
Individuals can find information on how to contact their local school at:
https://www.uah.org/get-help/school-meals.
Please visit jobs.utah.gov/PEBT for more information on the P-EBT program.

Here are some pictures from last years color run!
Center Stage
6th Grade Sculptures
In sixth grade, students are making models of ecosystems with clay. Students broke into groups and chose an ecosystem to model the flow of energy between organisms. Then they chose which organism they would make out of clay. This past week they sculpted their organism out of clay and we will paint them next week.
2nd Grade Abstract Paintings
In second grade students learned about abstract art. They discussed how art makes them feel and what it might represent based on the shapes and colors that they see. Then they created their own abstract artworks with sharpies and watercolor paints. These abstract paintings will be the backgrounds for a self portrait that they will make next week.
After School Clubs
LAST DAY OF ART CLUB WILL BE HELD THIS WEDNESDAY, May4th
Please be sure you have paid your art club fee. There is a $40 participation fee that needs to be paid in the office to cover the cost of supplies. Art Club is two times a month from now until May. Art Club starts right after school at 3:15 in the art room (Room Number 203). If you have any questions on dates or questions about art club please email Mrs. Redd at mredd@advantagearts.org.

On the day your student has club, larger instruments can be brought into the front office in the morning and must be picked up on the way to room 210.
