Mrs. Jump's Newsletter
First Grade 2015-2016
Note From the Teacher
Can you believe that this is the last newsletter for this school year? It seems so surreal to me that this year has come and gone so quickly! I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for making my 1st year of teaching such a wonderful and blessed year! I am so grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful group of boys and girls. I could not have asked for better students to embark on this journey with me. They will always hold a special place in my heart and I am so excited to watch them grow in 2nd grade! I hope that everyone is able to take time this Summer and enjoy their child. They have worked so hard this school year and have earned a fantastic Summer! From the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much for everything.
This was another productive and busy week in 1st grade! This week, in Reading, we worked on Reader's Theater and practiced reading with fluency and voice. The class really loved this! In Writing, we finished our shared research project and students were given the choice to create a poster or a book. Almost everyone chose to make a poster. In Math, we began and completed our 1st grade cumulative assessment and the students knocked this test out of the park. This assessment covered every concept that was taught in Math this school year. 94% of our class scored Met or Advanced on this assessment. Way to go! In Science, we learned about plants.
Our Music Program was a huge success! Thank you to everyone for coming out!
As you know, the end of the year comes with a lot of fun celebrations for all of our hard work and achievements. We will have an award assembly on May 13th. If your child is receiving an award, you have been contacted by me previously. If you have any questions, please let me know. We also have our Water Wars and Picnic Party coming up on May 11th. This event was worth 150 signatures. If your child is attending this, you should have received a letter home and an email from me.
Price Elementary is going to host Field Day and your student will not want to miss out on this much fun!
This will be an ALL-DAY event with students competing in several activities. Your student will be outside for half the day so please make sure your student is dressed appropriately: tennis shoes with socks are a MUST or your student will get blisters on their feet. Hats will also be allowed during the day to help students keep the sun off their face so we encourage them to wear their favorite hat! Sunscreen will be needed for your student as well as water bottles!
We want all the kids to enjoy this fun filled day, so making sure they come prepared for the heat/weather will ensure a great start to an active day.
Here is a schedule for the day…
8:45-11:00am-
Grades K-2 will be outside going through the field day events. Grades 3-5 will be at class parties.
*Lunch pick up will be at 10:30-11:15am.
11:00-11:45am-
Field day break from outside so we can set up for grades 3-5 classes.
11:45-2pm-
Grades K-2 will be at class parties.
Grades 3-5 will be outside going through the field day events.
Feel free to come out and enjoy the day with your student! We just ask that you make other arrangements for younger siblings, as this day is geared towards school aged students and is a celebration for all their hard work during the 2015-2016 school year.
You can email Coach Dishman at: lee.dishman@republicschools.org to give us a count of how many parents are planning on attending.
