Jackson Families,
Conferences
Thank you to everyone who attended parent/teacher conferences in October. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families and we are almost there. Whether in person or virtual, conversations held between families and teachers is absolutely essential for the success of students throughout their academic career.
If you haven't had your conference yet, please respond to your child(ren)'s teacher(s) through Class Dojo, email, phone call, etc. before the end of the week to set up a time to meet.
Communication
If you don't know this already, MOST of our communication comes through ClassDojo, the D11 Loop, and In student's planners. We do not often send home copies/flyers.
Please make sure your ClassDojo is updated. If you are not receiving any messages through ClassDojo, you may need to reinstall your app.
ClassDojo is a phenomenal tool to support communication between you and your child(ren)'s teacher, as well as be in the know about all that is going on in the school!
Cold Weather (Inclement Weather Policy)
The cold weather is coming! Please write your child's name in their coats/jackets. Every year we end up with many coats/jackets not claimed. We go out for recess at 18 degrees and above. On cold days, we ask all students to take their coats/jackets outside even if they don't want to wear them, just in case they need them. So, please remind your child(ren) to bring a coat/jacket to school during cold months.
If you are in need of a coat/jacket for your child, please read Mrs. Ruiz's message below.
Band and Orchestra Concert-December 3, 2021 at 6:00pm

As always, if you still have some questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thanksgiving Break
A SPECIAL thank you to our families and staff members for the wonderfully creative trunks!!!
Thank you to the staff who volunteered to help run Trunk or Treat...Linda Wilson, Sandi Smith, Adrienne Cooper, Pam Struckel, Megan Duran, Becky Hemphill, Tricia Shirola, Leslie Ruiz, Kate Essick, & Sam Volker
Thank you, Janice Manuel, Sue Lesar, and Ashley Castleberry for helping with Health Screening!
Counseling Corner with Mrs. Ruiz
We continue to teach The Zones of Regulation at Jackson. I hope you all enjoyed the Zones activities during conferences. I am available at Jackson to teach social emotional learning, for educationally based counseling, and to support student's socio-emotional/behavioral needs. However, if your child needs therapy for family and private matters, we do not provide that at school. Please contact me if you need resources for outside therapy.
Also, there is exciting news! Every youth in Colorado is now eligible for 3 free therapy sessions. "I Matter", a program that pairs youth with mental health professionals, has launched. It’s a great place for your child to find someone to talk to for free. Visit IMatterColorado.org to learn more.
As the weather turns colder...
Also, regardless of temperature, students walk back and forth to home/the bus/your car, and Drama and Music in the modulars. If your child needs a winter coat or shoes, please let us know as we do have some in our closet.
Here are some additional resources for the upcoming holidays...
Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4125 Constitution Avenue (southwest corner of Constitution and Murray) is offering Thanksgiving baskets for our community on Saturday, November 20 at 11 am. The full Thanksgiving dinner, including a turkey, will be available for the first 160 families on a first come, first served basis. We cannot reserve your dinner, but there will be plenty for everyone.
Crossfire Ministries will have a Thanksgiving food give-away on Monday, November 22. (Details will follow on Dojo.)

Box Tops for Education (BTFE)
Dear Jackson Families,
I just wanted to remind everyone of our efforts to use Box Tops for Education for extra money for our school.
BTFE has been phasing out the original way of clipping the logo off any
participating products and they now prefer everyone using the QR code (below) that you need to download onto your phone.
It is very simple to use. Simply download the App by using the QR Code provided here. You follow the directions to connect it to our school. After shopping all you do is scan your receipt from the store. It will immediately credit each item to our school!
Thanks for helping your school!
