Fall Brings out the Nostalgia of the School Year

Even in a pandemic, fall brings out the nostalgia of the school year. The cooler temperatures, changing leaves, shorter days...all reminders of being in school.

There is always something great happening at Mountainburg Schools. We hope that the Dragon Weekly helps you - students, parents, and patrons of our district stay in the know of what is going on.

If you have ever have a question or a concern, please feel free to contact as at one of the offices. Contact information is available at the bottom of the newsletter.

BE Happy, BE Free, BE a Drug Free Dragon!

All the campuses will be participating in Red Ribbon Week, October 27-30:

  • MMS and MHS students will be having a class competition to see which class can get the most commitment signatures to be drug-free on their class poster.
  • MMS and MHS students will also be doing a daily reading that is chosen by the English teachers. Students will be encouraged to write what the theme, BE Happy, BE Free, BE a Drug-Free Dragon! means to them.

This is a great time for parents to talk to their children about what being drug-free means.

veterans day 2020 - MMS and MHS

Big picture

Mountainburg Public Schools loves our veterans, and we appreciate their service to our country.

Out of caution for their health and our need to limit on campus visitors, we will suspend our traditional Veteran's Day assemblies. Each school will conduct classroom activities and virtual celebrations of our veterans and their service.

Please watch for the Community Veteran's Day slideshow to be shared on Veteran's Day. Mrs. Christian will add to the video from last year. If your veteran was honored in last year's

slideshow, there is no need to send in another picture.

To add pictures of your veterans contact Misty Christian through email - misty.christian@mountainburg.org.

Way to Go Band of Dragons!

Big picture
The Band of Dragons had their marching assessment on October 13th. Due to the pandemic, we have had to adjust how that works so we had three judges come to our school and score us on our marching show. Band scores typically are 1-superior, 2-excellent, 3-good, 4-fair, 5-poor and we got straight 2s! After all of the adversity, these students have had to face this past year this is quite an accomplishment.

Pictured above are members of the Band of Dragons who participated in this assessment: Eli Lovell, Brennan McCormick, Nathan Whittenburg, Gracie Farmer, Graham Alegria, Laurel Hyman-Drum Major, and Joseline Lee
