November Reading Challenge

Don't forget that we have a reading challenge going on this month with the homeroom with the most checkouts receiving a yummy holiday treat (Here's a hint: it's shaped like a gift and it's edible) in December. The top 10 class checkouts for last week (in alphabetical order) are: Banik, Blake, Cook, Deguira, Gascon, Hawks, Jackson, Nettles, Slomka, Wallace, Werhli (yes there are 11...there is a 3-way tie in one number of circulations).

Trials and Tribulations: Handling Hard Topics for Youth

Join Booklist for this free, hour-long webinar that will cover a range of literature on difficult subjects for kids and teens. Representatives from Lerner Publishing Group, Lorimer, and Second Story Press will share titles to encourage understanding of, and discussion about, hard-hitting and sensitive topics. It will take place Thursday, December 3rd. 1:00pm.

If you cannot make it to the webinar, they are archived on their site.

You may have noticed that I am sending out weekly overdue notices. I ran another report this morning and left it at your classroom. We have a huge number of items out. Most of these were checked out in September but many are from the first and only time students checked out a book in early August. Please encourage students to find and return their books. Thanks for your help with this!
