Core Essentials
Each month we will have a new core value. Students will learn about the new word in their
weekly classroom meetings and discuss how they can use it to be amazing Farney Falcons!
March’s Core Value is Cooperation! Cooperation means working together to do more that you can do alone.
Release of Information Forms
If you need Behavior Rating Scales completed or want the school to communicate with an outside entity, private tutor, doctor, etc., you will need to complete a Release of Information form for this school year. You can request this form through the counseling office. When asking teachers to complete Behavior Rating Scales, you will need to give one week’s notice to allow teachers ample time to complete the forms. These forms will be faxed directly to the doctor’s office and you will be notified once this is completed.
Mental Health Minute
March 4th Mental Health Minute Link
The Mental Health Minute is a biweekly newsletter provided by the Cy Fair Mental Health Team. It has lots of good information, tips and resources to help with mental health for parents and students.
Gifted and Talented Nominations
Horizons testing is now completed for grades 1-5. The results will be sent out in April. Due to the Kindergarten testing being rubric based, it is still in progress. Kindergarten results will be coming out in late March.

5th to 6th Grade Transition
Last week 5th Grade students got the opportunity to hear from the Goodson Fine Arts teachers and listen to some amazing music. Elective forms came home and should have been returned by March 3rd. This month 5th graders will also get to hear from their 6th grade counselor and Assistant Principal during Large Group as they come to share with our students about what to expect as they transition to Goodson. Please contact shannon.zepeda@cfisd.net if you have any questions.
Now recruiting WATCH DOGS!
Our Watchdog program consists of Dads or Father Figures of Great Students who volunteer one day at their child’s school. They will perform a variety of tasks including assisting with the car line in the morning, eating lunch with their child, monitoring the cafeteria and helping in their child’s classroom. Right now we are collecting emails for our Watchdog database. If you are interested and haven’t already, please complete the registration link below to add your name and email to our list. We will be sending a sign-up link towards the end of September for dads to pick their date on the calendar. Please contact sandra.ayala@cfisd.net or shannon.zepeda@cfisd.net if you have any questions. We look forward to your participation and hope to see many dads at Farney Elementary!

Teacher Work Day/School Holiday
Please take note of our Teacher Work Days. These are NOT remote learning days - they are student holidays. Please make sure to mark your calendar.
- April 18
Student Safety
Student safety is a top priority at Farney Elementary. If you plan to visit our school, please have your picture ID available every time you are here. When you ring the doorbell, front desk personnel will ask the nature of your visit. Please respond in the intercom. Once access is granted, please enter the security vestibule. Visitors are encouraged to wear a mask.
Lunch Visitors
K-5 parents and guardians are invited to visit during lunch. Any other visitors (grandparents, siblings, friends, etc.), must be accompanied by the parent or guardian or have a note giving them permission to eat with the child for each visit. In accordance with CFISD policy, school-age children are not permitted to visit the campus at any time. Due to food and nutrition guidelines, you may bring lunch for your child only. For your convenience, there are tables reserved for you to enjoy lunch with your child. Teachers will call the “Farney Five” at the end of lunch to signal when it is time for your child to say a quick goodbye and rejoin his/her class.
Important Reminder from the Cafeteria
Just a reminder that the cafeteria does not carry or dispense change. In the event a parent/student/visitor needs to pay with cash the overpayment is applied to the student's school cafe account. The district strongly encourages parents/legal guardians to utilize
School Cafe for all Nutrition Services payments.
