Principal's Update

Hello Wolfpack!

Wolfpack for another win! We had an amazing night at the first home volleyball game. Our varsity team beat East Valley in three sets. The team encouraged each other and rallied from behind in the middle set. Our students came out to cheer for our team, encouraging them when the going got tough. And they wore their masks, correctly, over their noses. Moments like last night re-affirm my love of working in a high school. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your amazing students.

Our classes are finding their flow. With our first five-day week in the books, teachers and students are figuring out routines. I had the opportunity to visit over twenty classes this week. I saw students engaging in rich discussions around archetypes. I saw students diving into what geometry is and what it looks like. I saw teachers helping students re-adjust to the daily expectations of every student, every day.

A final story to illustrate the wonderful community that is North Central – Parents from the visiting volleyball team were struggling to make it to our gym entrance since they had some mobility concerns. Two of our young men stopped, helped them with their items, and showed them the way. This couple was so touched, they sought out one of the administrators at the game to share their story. This is NC. We are family. Always.

Wolfpack Volleyball

The inaugural season of Wolfpack volleyball has begun with an incredible 3-0 record. These girls have been dedicated and worked all summer to prepare for this season. We are fortunate to have 5 returning starters and 4 of them received all GSL accolades in 2020/21. We will have to battle it out against teams in the 3A/4A gauntlet but these young ladies are up for the challenge. We encourage our amazing Wolf den student section to come out and support these awesome athletes. Go WOLFPACK!

The new coach and team were also featured in the Spokesman Review this week. Check out the article at the link below!

First Home Football Game

Tonight is our first home football game vs. Clarkston High School. The game will start at University High at 7 PM. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students or seniors. Don't forget to bring your GSL pass if you bought one. We are looking forward to a great night with the same positive energy and Wolfpack pride as you all brought to last night's volleyball game. Go Wolfpack!

Counselors' Corner

We are so excited to have everyone back in the building! We are seeing a bit more anxiety as this is still a new experience to be back full time. That is completely normal, and there are some simple tricks to help calm yourself, even from your seat in class! Many breathing exercises can be done without anyone even noticing. Breathing signals your nervous system to calm down. Taking even just 60 seconds to do a breathing technique can change the trajectory of your entire body system. This YouTube video is a simple “finger breathing” exercise that anyone can do, does not take long, and can help with that pesky anxiety anytime anywhere! CLICK HERE to watch now. Happy Breathing!

Athletics Updates

Spectator Expectations - New Outdoor Masking

Masks are required for spectators for all indoor athletic events. For fall sports, this applies to our volleyball games. We encourage students and community members to come out and support our teams as they have worked hard to play this season.

New this week - the governor has required masks for all outdoor events that include more than 500 people. Should the total number of spectators pass 500, we will be asking all fans to wear a mask. Please bring one with you when attending events, just in case this requirement is met.

Attendees who forget a mask will be provided one at the ticket table. If there are consistent problems with wearing a mask over the nose and mouth, individual spectators may be asked to leave or the game may need to be delayed or cancelled. Please work with school staff to support our teams and make sure they can play a full season this year. If you have a concern about mask wearing, reach out to school administration at any time.
