For common sounds like car horns, doorbells ringing, or dogs barking SoundGator has some great free sound recordings you can download and use with your projects. Pick from twenty-three different recording categories that you can browse through to find the perfect sound for your project. Registration is required to download recordings.

Freesound aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, ... released under Creative Commons licenses that allow their reuse.

Soundation Studio has the functionality of a professional desktop DAW including real time effects, virtual instruments, automation, recording and so much more. Soundation Studio is available via your browser and you have to create an account. Select the 'Free' version for access up to 700 great free loops and samples or the paid version for access to over 8000 sounds.

BeatLab is a studio where you can create your own beats and rhythms. It has instruments you can choose from and different genres to change the styles. Requires an account (email) or you can use your Google or Facebook accounts.
