Post 782 Memorial Day Observance
The only thing certain, lately, is uncertainty. So much so, I have not felt comfortable making plans to move forward with continuing some meaningful, long held traditions, and a new one, for this time of year. Therefore, I'm officially stating, VFW Post 782 will not gather this year in honor of Memorial Day. In other words, our Post will not facilitate U.S. Flag placement & clean-up at veteran gravesites, conduct a Memorial Day Commemoration at Battery Park nor host an Open House.

Instead, consider gathering with the folks in your small inner circle to remember the day together. There are no restrictions for small groups and individuals to visit final resting places for veterans, if you feel inclined to do so. For others, the comfort of ceremony is still available, albeit virtually, through the VA National Cemetery. More about this unique opportunity is described below.
Please remember to look out for one another. Encourage those in need, to reach out for information about unmet needs, by dialing 211 or directly to known local resources. As the Post Service Officer, I have a responsibility to assist veterans and veteran family members with connecting to available resources. Let's work together so no one suffers alone.
Wishing everyone continued wellness,

Reflections with the VA National Cemetery
VA invites you to participate in Memorial Day ceremonies virtually. Live stream links and videos of Memorial Day 2020 Ceremonies at VA National Cemeteries from across the country will be posted in the Live Stream link for viewing on on May 25. Ensure you can access the link prior to the event day; send an email message, via the option of this newsletter, for assistance.
Each VA national cemetery will conduct a brief wreath laying ceremony, accompanied by a moment of silence and the playing of Taps. In keeping with CDC guidelines to limit large gatherings, the ceremonies will not be open to the public.

You can bring more funding to Vermont!
Completing the Census questionnaire allows you to influence the amount of money that comes to your home town for many of the essential programs that benefit our health and safety, and pay for our roads, local government, schools, hospitals, and so much more. Encourage your Vermont neighbors, near and far, to complete the Census too!
If you or someone you know has a second home in Vermont, it matters! See more information in the attachment.
In about 10 minutes, you can complete the Census by going to my2020census.gov or by calling 844-330-2020.
