Oak Room Newsletter
Week of March 23, 2015
Reminder: Potluck celebration on Thursday and NO SCHOOL on Friday!
This week (as told by the Oak Room Kindergartners)...
Mick's mom and Reed's mom came in for their cultural tradition. Someone died at the park. They put a picture up of him. We learned a new word today--saw.
We made cube trains. We had Writing Workshop before snack. We played sight word bingo.
We had Community Gathering in the music room. The first graders went on a field trip so it was just us! Pascale showed everyone things in the Community Room.
Carmen's aunt came and shared her book. Since the grown ups have a lot of meetings we are having a lot of short, short days. The teachers gave parents their reports.
This week in literacy (and things to do at home)
In Writing Workshop we continued to write true stories from our lives that readers really want to read. We worked on putting spaces between our words and periods at the end.
We would love to have morning shares of any true stories your child works on with you at home!
This week in math (and things to do at home)
Point out and look for patterns around your home or neighborhood with your child!
This week in Project Time
It was an exciting week in Project Time! Many grown ups came in and shared their family cultural traditions, including Chinese dumplings, art projects with sticks, quilt making, English muffin pizzas, the game "I Spy", schnitzel, and dominos & English tea!
THANK YOU TO ALL THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE SHARED SO FAR!!!! It has been a wonderful experience.
We have TWO spots left for Monday if you haven't signed up yet!
Compass Spirit Week is Next Week!
FAMILY POTLUCK!
We are nearing the end of our family study and as the culminating celebration we are having a family potluck with both kindergarten classes in the Community Room! Please sign up to bring something and we hope to see you then. www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0F4FADAF2BA02-family
