Student Recognition
Auralia Lundquist of CLEAResult recognized the following five students for winning five out six awards in the PPL/Geisinger Health System Poster Contest that asked students to depict how health and wellness relate to energy efficiency.
Middle School Winners/Teacher, Josh Abrams, SMS:
1st Jayden Dowie/SMS $150
2nd Lucy Schilling/SMS $50
3rd Jackson Powers/SMS $25
Elementary Winners:
1st Nathan Maxwell/Parkway Manor - Mrs. Dotter $150
2nd Hannah Schmoyer/Parkway Manor- Mrs. Kistler $50
Additionally, each winner has won an additional $1,000 to be put towards energy savings initiatives in their schools.
2018-19 General Fund Budget Presentation
John Vignone, Director of Business Administration, gave this budget update and then proposed that the District not exceed the State's Act 1 Index of 2.4%. Immediately following his presentation, the Board approved the resolution not to raise taxes by more than 2.4% in order to balance the budget.
Roundtable
There were a few bills that Lisa Roth and Rob Cohen would not give approval for. They were for Cyber Schools who they feel are not educating students properly and their disapproval shows that they do not support the fact that taxpayers must fund them.

The Board and Rich Sniscak gave recognition to the 308 years of service that retiring staff have contributed to Parkland School District.
The public is cordially invited to attend the Community Advisory Council Meeting on February 15 at 7 PM at the Ad Center. The topic of the meeting will be “College and Career Readiness” which will be presented by Eric Roberts, PHS Guidance Counselor.

The Governor's Budget is due to be unveiled on Feb. 6th (Feb 7th if the Eagles win the Super Bowl).
School Board Recognition will take place during the February 27, 2018 meeting.
