JUNIOR STUDENTS: PSAT & NMSQT Testing
All Juniors are registered for the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 13. Juniors should report to school by 7:30 a.m. They need to bring a photo ID, two Number 2 pencils and a calculator. Like the SAT, the PSAT/NMSQT measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career. Click here for more information on the NMSQT. Room assignments will be posted via Schoology no later than October 12, 2021. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your student’s counselor. If you miss this testing date, there is no make-up test.
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are not to report to school on October 13, 2021.
Students Encouraged to GET INVOLVED!
Although your student’s high school experience is primarily about academics, involvement in extracurricular activities is vital to their overall success. Research shows that students who are involved with extracurricular activities tend to perform better in school than those who are not involved. Through participation, students at East have the opportunity to give back to the community through the service projects, engaging in hobbies and items of interest, and competing with other students on both the local and national level. Please encourage and challenge your son/daughter to get involved in these activities at East. Your son/daughter has the privilege to choose from over 60 clubs and activities that our school has to offer. Click here to learn more about the many options available.
After School Transportation
After school transportation is available to students who wish to participate in after school activities as we offer 4:30pm and 6pm buses on Monday-Thursday as well as a 5pm bus on Friday. View activity bus transportation routes and expectations here.
2021-22 School Year Student Supports
Can your student benefit from additional support this year? See our list of 21-22 Student Supports that contain a list of resources, directories, and interventions for student support.
Students Visit Kahlo Exhibit
On Friday, September 10, our Latin American Studies students traveled to The Cleve Carney Museum of Art located within the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage. There the students experienced the "Frida Kahlo, Timeless" exhibit. On display were twenty-six original works of art by Frida Kahlo on loan from the Dolores Olmedo Museum in Mexico City. Additionally, students worked their way through more than 100 photographic images from Frida's life, as well as a multimedia timeline. Themes of love, loss, and overcoming adversity were explored.

Superintendent Dr. David Larson: Extracurricular Activities Key to Greater Academic Success
When you think back on your high school years, do you think about your glory days in sports? Or maybe nights rehearsing for the school play or working on the student yearbook? Extracurricular activities are a key part of a comprehensive high school education. Beyond making friends and learning important collaborative skills, students who are involved in extracurricular activities have a strong connection to school.
When students participate in extracurricular activities, they have greater academic success, increased self-confidence, consistent class attendance and higher academic aspirations.
If your teen hasn’t signed up to participate in a sport, club or activity, please encourage them to explore the options available at Glenbard East, talk with a coach or sponsor to learn more and then get involved.
We are proud to provide a diverse offering of numerous clubs, activities and sports. Check out descriptions of Glenbard East clubs and activities at this link, and click on the athletics tab at this link to see the sports that are offered.
As I visit each of our schools, it’s great to see students in class, and I’m pleased to see students participating in after-school activities and sports. Glenbard East offers something for everyone. It’s not too late for your teen to get involved.
Also, one of the ways for students to get involved is to support East’s various student athletes. The fans and spectators in the stands at various athletic competitions are an important part of the athletic experience.
Whether your teen is on the team, a member of club or activity or a spectator at a school event, their participation will strengthen their connection to school and lead to an improved learning experience. Years from now, their participation in school activities also will be among their fondest memories of high school. Encourage your teen to get involved today.
