Vision screens for will take place on October 23, 24 and 25th for Kindergarten, First and Third Grades . Please consider volunteering for the annual Vision Screens. This is a fun and easy way to get involved. The vision screens are important to catch visual problems early and would not be possible without parent volunteers. No experience necessary. The school nurse will provide a short training during your volunteer time. Please signup using following link. If you have any questions please email Vanessa Shafer at firstname.lastname@example.org
My Energy Kit Challenge has started!
Have you already received a My Energy Kit? Do you still want to help your school receive free money? Great! Even if you have requested and received a kit before, you can request again and your request will count towards your schools goal of 100 energy efficiency kits. If they get to 100 kits they receive 250 dollars! So help your school out and request your kit today, even if you have already received one.
Art Shirts Needed for Art Class
If your child has not brought in an art shirt for themselves for Art Class with Mr. Conklin, they should do so. His class is getting into some messy projects and the majority of our 3rd and 4th graders never bring an art shirt. We'd hate to see those cute clothes they wear get messy.

Green Team Tip of the Week
The Maple Dale Green Team is partnering with Crayola to recycle used markers through a new program called ColorCycle. All around school, students and teachers will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house – any brands. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Drop-off boxes will be located in each classroom and by the front office. Got used markers? ColorCycle them!

Reporting Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Incidences
In an ongoing effort to provide a safe learning environment, Sycamore is requesting parents, students, and staff to inform administration (or whoever) of any perceived incidences of harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
Per the Sycamore Board of Education policy JFCF, harassment, intimidation, and bullying are defined as any provoked and intentional written, verbal, electronic or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once and the behavior both:
1. causes mental or physical harm to the other student; and
2. is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for the other student.
To view the complete policy, visit www.sycamoreschools.org, under the Board of Education tab, scroll down to “Policies”, search for policy “JFCF”.
Sycamore will do everything possible to address any complaints of harassment, intimidation, and bullying. We encourage students, staff, parents, and community members to report this type of behavior to the district if help is needed to solve a problem.
To report an incident of harassment, intimidation, and bullying,
1. Go to the website, www.sycamoreschools.org under Academics, General Education, Parent Resources, Anti-Bullying
2. Scroll down until you see the Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Incident Reporting Form for the individual schools.
3. Fill the form on-line and submit it electronically.
4. Hard copies of this form are available in each of the schools.
Complete the hard copy of the report form and turn it into the building principal.
The building principal or designee will promptly investigate all reported incidences.
It is difficult to investigate reported incidences that are anonymously submitted. However, every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of the reporter. Deliberate false reporting of harassment, intimidation, and bullying is prohibited.
