The Golden Envelope Pledge Drive

It's that time of the year!

The Park Village Foundation wants to thank all our families for their constant generosity and support. Our Golden Envelope Pledge Drive officially begins on Monday, August 30th. Your students should start receiving their golden envelopes from their teachers this week.

Your 100% tax-deductible donation of $350 per student goes directly back to the school, providing funding for Science, PE, Music, Art and Technology and so much more!

We encourage you all to donate online by visiting www.parkvillagefoundation.com/pledge-drive/

If you choose to pay by cash or check, you can drop your golden envelopes into the mailbox inside the front gates.

If you have any questions, contact us at parkvillagefoundation@gmail.com

DAD Group Recycling

The DADS group has been raising money for the school through our recycling program for the past decade. This year's monthly recycling collection kicks off on Saturday, Sept 4, from 8-10 AM in the ESS parking lot. Bring your CA Redemption/CRV beverage recyclables like aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles.

We recognize the student in each grade who brings the most recyclables. The class that collects the most recyclables will win an ice cream party at the end of the year as well! You scream, I scream, we all scream for recycling. (That's an A+ dad joke right there.) If you'd like to participate please count your bottles and cans and write the number on a small piece of paper with your student(s)'s name, grade, and teacher.

We collect every first Saturday of the month. Unavailable Saturday mornings? Contact us at pvesdads1@gmail.com to arrange an alternate drop-off or with any questions. See you soon.

Please join us on Friday, September 10th at 6pm for the PTA Picnic on Park Village Elementary's field. Bring a blanket to sit on, your own food, and your family, to dine al fresco on the field while you get to know other families and the kids play. This event is open to ALL families affiliated with the school, no PTA membership required. We hope to see you there!

Interested in Volunteering?

Hello Park Village Families!

If you are interested in being a part of our volunteer community please send me an email at sifferlens@gmail.com. This is simply an interest list to help out at special events Team PV (DADS, PTA, and Foundation) have throughout the year. The commitment is as much time as you’d like to give, for events that you’d like to assist. If you already put your name on the volunteer interest list sheet, you should have received 2 emails from me this week. If you did not receive those emails, please let me know (because I most likely typed in the wrong email address). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Counselor's Corner

Welcome back! I am excited to be back and know that this new school year will be filled with enthusiasm and the expectation of great learning, new friendships and our hopes realized. One of my goals this year, in working with students, teachers and parents, is to promote Growth Mindset. Growth Mindset promotes perseverance, hard work, mistakes being our teachers, believing in oneself, the concept of “not yet”, and grit. It is such a powerful tool to motivate students and teach them that they are in charge of their learning.

Another of my goals is to share with you the concepts in Michele Borba’s new book: Thrivers: The Surprising Reasons Why Some Kids Struggle and Others Shine. In her book she outlines and provides applicable ideas to help students learn and grow based on the seven essential character traits that help children thrive, including the ability to nurture a caring heart, develop a strong mind, and cultivate a determined will.

These traits – confidence, empathy, self-control, integrity, curiosity, perseverance, and optimism – will allow kids to roll with the punches and succeed in life. Even better, these traits can be taught to children at any age.

As your school counselor I will continue to teach the Second Step and Bullying Prevention lessons. These are valuable life lessons which help our children to be successful in life include concepts on empathy, emotion management and problem solving steps.

Please let me know if I can support you or your children in any way to be a more successful student. The best way to reach me is by e-mail – jcardinale@powayusd.com

Let’s make this an incredible year of learning and personal growth.

Jackie Cardinale, School Counselor

Room Parent's Wanted!!

Hello Park Village Parents,

Welcome back to what’s sure to be another great year! Looking for ways to volunteer this year? Each class will need a room parent (or room parent team) to help relay important information to the class, coordinate events throughout the year, and provide support to the teacher. Typical room parent duties include forwarding important info to your classes, planning class parties and coordinating other events such as teachers/staff week, collecting information, and working closely with your teacher to ensure a smooth and fun year for the students. There will be a room parent meeting for which details will be sent out soon. If you are interested in being a room parent please notify your student's teacher. It is extremely helpful for our teachers to have room parents, and makes it much easier for our parents to receive important communications from the school as well as planning all the fun things our kids love to do! Please direct any questions to PVE.roomparents@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration!

Become a "Friend of the Foundation!"

Do you own or know of a business that would like to become a Friend of the Foundation for the 2021-2022 school year? See how your business can make a tax-deductible donation to enhance education at Park Village Elementary School!

As a business owner, name recognition is vital to increasing your customer base. Several parents have said that businesses who partner with the Foundation become some of the first businesses they turn to when they need particular services.

Please join with us in enhancing education for our Park Village Penguins.

Every dollar donated goes directly to our students’ education! If you are interested in making a difference at Park Village Elementary and becoming a “Friend of the Foundation” for the 2021-22 school year, please contact Jim Buchmiller at jcbuchmiller@san.rr.com for more details and information on how to sign up for this program.

Our organization depends on donations from community members like you to support our programs. We are very thankful for companies like yours that want to make a difference in the education of our students.

NO NAMES WILL BE USED AND STUDENTS WILL NOT BE "TAGGED" IN POSTS.

Parents, please help us ensure a safe and efficient drop off by having your student ready, with their backpacks, to hop out of the car when you pull up to the drop off area . When you have to stop and get things out of the trunk, it holds up the line and causes delays for everyone. Please have your student exit the right hand side of the car. You may not park in the drop off area or get out of your car. This will create a safe and quick drop off for everyone. Click here for an aerial view of arrival and dismissal procedures.

If your child needs help getting to the gate, please do not go through the drop off line. Instead, park and walk them to the gate. Click here to see where you can park. Staff will be inside the gate to help students to the playground.

Health and Safety Protocols

For information on protocols click here. Close contact tracing will continue, following the COVID-19 decision tree.
