Children and Families...

The population has been rapidly increasing because families are having more children. However, a lot of children are dying as infants or from diseases such as smallpox and diphtheria. Both rich and poor families are experincing this. Although this is happening to all families, it is still easy to tell the difference between rich and poor children. Some ways they differ are their clothes and shoes and how much they weigh and also poor children must work to support while the rich don't.

Children Working For Less...

Many people think work is good for our chldren even though they're paid less than adults, as you know it's only a mere few pennies a week. Most children start work at five years old. Do you agree with this? Older siblings take their younger siblings to work. Some work at home while others work in factories, on farms, or as servants. Some even push heavy coal trucks. Boys go to sea as sailors, and girls serve as house maids.

Schooling...

So, that means that very few children go to school, because most poor children work. The reason is, if poor children DID go to school, their families would likley have no money at all. This results in a large percentage of only rich children going to school. So, some schools now offer free schooling for those boys whose families cannot afford schooling. However, no poor girls may go to these free schools.
