A Note from Mrs. Mathe

Well, the cooler temperatures weren't waiting to come in gradually so our bodies could adjust slowly to the brisk mornings! This morning at active start, our kindergarten students were so cold, they were attempting to start a camp fire on the playground! (don't worry, they were not successful with their stick rubbing attempts) With that being said, and as a reminder, students attend active start 1 day a week. Be sure to dress them in layers so they can adjust as the day warms at recess time. It is extremely helpful if you label the inside of the layers with your child's name so if left behind or lost, we can return the clothing to its owner. The colder it gets outside, the faster our lost and found collection grows!

Also, as a reminder, this weekend is the end of Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to set your clocks back 1 hour early Sunday morning. Enjoy that extra hour of sleep this weekend!

Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff.

It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. This assessment will be administered to all 2nd grade students this month.

If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17, 2021. You may request a referral form from Mrs. Nixon. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
