Staff Spotlight - Chris Miller

Each week we will spotlight the great staff we have at Howell that make our activities, clubs and sports possible. These Vikings put in a great deal of time to represent Howell in positive ways and add so much to our Howell family. Being attached to the Howell building and our community is important for not just students but also staff. This week we highlight our director of bands Chris Miller

Name: Chris Miller

Sport/Activity Coached: Marching Band, I also oversee the Winter Drumline and Winter Guard

Years Coaching At Howell: 15

College Playing/Coaching Experience: Played at Missouri State for 5 years undergrad, performing in the marching band, jazz band, Wind Ensemble, Dance Band, Brass N Sass, and any other group they needed. I also did two years of Grad School where I performed in all the same groups, except the marching band. I taught marching at the grad level.

Why did you decide to enter the coaching profession? I love music. I love teaching music. Where else can you do what you love to do, all day every day and on the weekends?

What do you enjoy most about Howell? The community, the coaching staff, the people. It's my home and now my kid goes here and my second one will in two more years.

In my spare time I like to …... play gigs around St. Louis, travel, deer and turkey hunting
