Columbus day should be celebrated

Evidence #1:

Columbus day should be celebrated because Columbus possessed admirable qualities. Columbus had a capitalistic spirit, he sought glory, wealth and a great tittle of nobility by opening a new trade routes to China and Japan. He also challenge the conventional thought that the Earth was flat, seeking to reach the east by going to west," an idea to which the scientists of the day were forcibly opposed. Columbus also discovered the American continental coast and he recorded the voyage so others can repeat the feat. His discovery led the creation of the greatest nation on Earth, the United States of America. Because of this many Americans should be proud.

Evidence #2:

The Columbus day should be celebrated because It is a day were many Americans should feel proud of.After Columbus, came millions of European immigrants who brought art, music, science, medicine, philosophy and religious principles to America. These contributions have helped shape the United States and include Greek democracy, Roman law, Judeo-Christian ethics and the tenet that all men are created equal. Also the Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 in honor of the 400 anniversary of his first voyage.In that year, President Benjamin Harrison declared Columbus Day a legal holiday. Columbus days should celebrate his discovery and be thankful they live in this great country.
