Requesting Volunteer Interviewers for JA Biztown
Our 4th and 5th graders will immerse themselves in the Junior Achievement's BizTown program on October 3rd and 4th. Through this program, students begin to understand financial responsibility and the economy of the world. Each student will become gainfully employed as part of the simulation experience. We are seeking a wide variety of interviewers from all walks of life! Please consider playing a part regardless of the grade your child is currently in by interviewing our 4th and 5th graders on Monday, September 23rd for their job placements. All materials will be provided for your interviews and you will meet some amazing students who are becoming well versed in the economic world!
BIZTOWN INFO FROM MRS. MCHENRY!!!
If you are interested in volunteering at BizTown, please read the following email thoroughly.
Our 4th and 5th graders will be going to JA BizTown on Oct. 3rd and 4th. This on-site visit is the capstone of the curriculum, which encompasses important elements of the community and economy, work readiness, financial literacy, and business management. While visiting BizTown, each student will become a Town Citizen and assume a job in one of the Town businesses.
To ensure a successful visit, we need 14 to 18 Volunteer Facilitators to accompany us to JA BizTown for the full 5-hour visit. The role of the Volunteer Facilitator will be to provide guidance to the students as they operate their businesses. Volunteers who offer to assist during the on-site visit are required to complete training requirements to prepare for their work with the students. This training provides volunteers with the opportunity to understand their role within the simulation, as well as gain hands-on experience in the business they'll be assisting.
If you would like to submit your name to be put in a drawing for BizTown Volunteer, you must be able to commit to attend both days and completing one of the following trainings:
Option 1:
Online: Instructions to access the online training module will be emailed to you by Junior Achievement. You are required to complete this module at least 3 days before our visit. You will then complete the hands-on portion of your training in the JA BizTown Facility the morning of our visit. You will be required to arrive no later than 7:15 A.M.
Option 2:
On-site: The on-site volunteer training session for your school is coming up on Wednesday, September 11th (10am – 1pm), so please be sure to select that date on the online form. The session will be held at JA BizTown at 120 Powell Place, Nashville, TN, 37204, and will include all necessary training components. On the day of our visit, you will need to arrive no later than 8:15 A.M.
Please complete the following form ASAP if you would like to be considered as a BizTown Volunteer. Volunteers will be picked on a first come, first served basis. **If we have more than 18 volunteers, a lottery drawing will be held.**
Thank you so much! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me.
