A Message from Dr. Mitchell
Good afternoon SLMS Families,
The final week of the 2021-22 school year has arrived. I want to thank you again for all of the support you have provided to your student and the many programs and activities throughout the year. We have appreciated the opportunity to work with you and your child and hope that each student is better prepared to face the next step in his/her education.
As we look to the future and how SLMS may better serve our students and families, we would appreciate you taking a moment to share any feedback or suggestions you may have by using the following link: SLMS Parent Feedback
Below are a few additional informational items for you to consider as we wrap up the year:
Final exams are given in each class at SLMS. Students will be taking final exams in classes May 25 (hours 2 and 6), May 26 (hours 1,3,7), and May 27 (hours 4 and 5). Finals in A/B classes (art/music/pe)Students will follow their regular schedule each day but will only test during the designated final hours.
The final day of school, May 27, is an early release day. All SLMS students will dismiss at 12:45pm. A reminder, lunch is not provided to students in grades 7-12 on early release days.
In the event your child was not in attendance on the last day(s) of school, items such as yearbooks, certificates, band instruments, etc., may be picked up in the main office between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm Monday through Friday through the month of June. Outstanding fees or fines may also be paid during these hours. NOTE: Due to construction beginning May 28, the NORTH entry will be closed. All visitors needing to conduct business in the main office will need to park in the South Circle drive and enter via the Library Media Center door to the right of the patio (will be marked).
Final grades will be shared electronically on Friday, June 4 and Honor Roll the week of June 13-17.
Students attending summer school have been notified by their grade-level assistant principal and/or the summer school administrator regarding details of the program.
We are looking forward to a memorable final week of the 2021-22 school year. Thank you for your continued support of SLMS and your middle school student.
Respectfully,
David Mitchell, Ed.D.
Principal, SLMS
End of the Year Information
Yearbooks will be distributed during Homeroom on Wednesday, May 25 to students who have signed their yearbook contracts and are in good standing with fees and fines. Students needing to pay any fees/fines may do so during homeroom on May 25 or in advance in the front office (preferred). Fees and fines: Library books, chromebook related fees (replacements / repairs / chargers), school sports team uniforms, etc. are all examples of common fees/fines needing to be paid. Families of students with fees will be notified via email of the nature of the fee and the amount.
Students are not to bring books, yearbooks, coats, etc. to school on May 27. They are to ONLY bring what they need for their 4th and 5th hour finals.
Locker cleanouts
Students are encouraged to begin taking home any/all items that are no longer needed at school. This will lighten the load for them rather than waiting until Thursday, May 26 (final locker cleanout as students will not be using their lockers on May 27).
