A Message from the Principal
TRMS Community Member,
Hello! Soon we will hold election of new parent/guardian and teacher representatives for the School Governance Council. School Governance Council elections will be held on March 23rd-March 29th.
Be sure to cast your vote! Our School Governance Council shapes the strategic direction of our school and helps to develop specialized educational experiences aligned with the needs of our students. Each and every parent/guardian at our school will have the opportunity to vote for the new parents/guardians to represent you on the Council.
You will be able to access the election site by going to our school webpage during the election period, March 23rd-29th. You can vote from your computer, laptop, iPad, or smartphone. We will also have voting stations at the school, if you choose to come in and vote on site. Remember, you must have your Home Access Center (HAC) code to vote. If you need your HAC code, stop by the school’s front office with a photo ID.
We hope that you will participate in our SGC elections by voting on a candidate to represent you on the Council. If you have any questions about the School Governance Council or elections, please visit our webpage or contact the school.

Cyber Safety Month
What is Cyber Safety?
Cybersafety is the safe and responsible use of information and communication technology. It is about keeping information safe and secure, but also about being responsible with that information, being respectful of other people online, and using good 'netiquette' (internet etiquette). During the month of March TRMS is participating in Cyber Safety Thursdays sponsored by Counselors, Social Worker, Graduation Coach, Peer Mediation PLC. The students will have the opportunity to be involved in Cyber Safety morning announcements, pre/post surveys, poster contest, safety pledge, and class videos on tips and facts about Cyber Safety.
The first step in reducing risks online is talking. Talking to your children about what they should and should not do when they are online. Find out the activities they are currently doing online and talk about them. Children love to show off their talents, and when you are interested in what they are doing online, nine times out of ten they will be more than happy to show you what they know. Let them teach you some of the different chat programs they use, what sites they visit and music download software they use.
On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, Officer Madhusudana Meberg from the Johns Creek Police Department will be speaking to our TRMS parents about Cyber Safety and keeping our students safe. This brief, but informative program will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. There will also be time available for a question and answer session.
Mr. Sean McCarthy from Jostens will be visiting the Taylor Road student body on Friday, March 25, 2016, to discuss internet safety. He will also provide some general guidelines to help our students make better decisions about how they use the internet and major pitfalls that should be avoided. Each grade level will be able to hear this important message during their connections classes. Students will also have a chance to take a pledge to be safe while using technology at the end of March. It is our hope that parents will use the information we provide during this month to begin conversations with their children about their expectations regarding internet usage and safety. Our combined efforts will have a greater impact than any single message.
