Parents Back on Campus
I am happy to share with you that after spring break, we are ready to welcome parents and guardians back on campus for drop-off and pick-up. Yay! We are still working through some details as we would like to maintain the organization at pick-up and ensure uninterrupted instructional time. I will email families before spring break with specific details. All of your burning questions will be answered, I promise :). Thank you for the time to work with staff. Parents are welcome to drop off and pick up their children on campus beginning April 11th.
March 11 Professional Learning
Our staff was engaged in rich professional learning last Friday, centered on literacy and supporting readers in meaningful ways that uplift and celebrate students for the gifts they add to their learning community. In the afternoon, our staff spent time learning how to evaluate bias in literature and to look at our class libraries for gaps in representation and narratives. Our Vision Team (Teacher Leadership) led a wonderful tutorial refresh for End-of Year Letters. We know how meaningful these are for families :).
Fun School Events
The Student Council Arts & Crafts Fundraiser was spectacular! The donated art pieces were well-received and almost completely bought out! There were fabulous jewelry pieces, paintings, drawings, origami, Perler beads galore, popular pompoms, and clay flowers. Thank you to our artists, Student Council, and our paying customers! We even had some cash donations. We will share out the profits as soon as we count up the cash. Iris thanks you! She is home and feeling wooly great.
Bike Rodeo was a big hit! It was the first one in the district since the pandemic. Bike and pedestrian safety is so important to keep our kids safe. Thank you to Rose, our Cluster 2 teachers, Heike, and all of the parent volunteers who made the day a great success!
Farm Work Day Tomorrow - 3/20
Tomorrow is our Farm Work Day hosted by Cluster 3 and open for all. Please consider spending an hour on the farm to support the maintenance of our outdoor classroom for students. You can bring your Ohlone students. Please sign up here. We appreciate you!
Book Fair - March 21-25
Book Fair is next week! PTA treated our staff to a preview of books along with a light and lovely bag lunch. Thank you, PTA! I'm sure the kids will love shopping next week!
I hope you enjoy the weekend! I am off for an all-day track meet in Mountain View to watch my 9th grader run for 45 seconds. See you on Monday!
